No it wasn't. Not at all. People weren't pissed that we chose Price over Kopitar, because that wasn't the situation at all. People were pissed that we took a goalie because we already had a Hart winner in Theodore.

More people wanted Brule.
Yep. I've had people say we should've taken Kopitar and then Quick (who went a few rounds in) as though you can just cherrypick this stuff. Totally stupid crap like this.

It doesn't work that way. If we don't take Price, we very likely take Brule.

One can't run his draft based on the fans misplaced anger. I'm sure some will dunk the kid because he commited the unforgivable sin of being chosen instead of the other guy... But yeah, the GM can't control how the fans behave.
absolutely. But the GM can just do the right thing. This wasn't it.

Well, you guys wanted an analytics department in Montreal, one that had influence. I think you have your answer tonight, judging by all the analytics geeks' charts tonight. He was the guy to be picked. Some even call him a 'cornerstone defenceman'.

We'll see. I will go back and look at his clips now. And eat chips. Because when I'm sad, I eat chips.

With onion dip?

I think there's a good chance he will be a top 4 D. And top 4 RHD are always very valuable.

But how good exactly will he be? Legit 1st pair guy like Pietrangelo, or a tier or two below that? Who knows.

So it's not that he won't be a good player, it's that they passed on a player who I think has a good chance of becoming a gigastar. That's the reasoning why I think this pick might end up looking like a huge miss in 5 years.

Also, I don't think there was a big difference between him and Willander, another RHD who Canucks picked at #11. So I do think they could've traded down.

Willander had similar production in a JR league, and Reinbachers calling card is his defense. Unless Willander's development takes an exponential curve, they aren't comparable imo.

If Michkov was off the board, Reinbacher was my choice. He's going to deliver for us.

But........damn. Michkov was still there.
I agree, and I think we got the potential best D in the draft.. but with michkov is there... You don't pick him?

Disgusting.. and I saw it ALL over hughes face once the pick was in...

"uh oh how am I going to answer to this"

This draft definitely shows that its way harder to get top line centers and Defenseman through trades then Wingers.

They are simply more valuable.

Anyways I'm guessing the Habs board will have the smallest fanbase on this site based off the reactions so far.

The draft is straight boring.. It is only exciting for HARCORE hockey fans.. And even then.. Boring.

There is next to nothing entertaining about this shit.. It's SO mundane.

The Russian excuse? LMAO. Why was a Russian taken ahead of him then? This is called digging your heels in, everyone. Embarrassing.
Lol are you actually arguing that the russian factor isn’t a thing? Kid fell to 7th, not 24th. Get a grip you’re just being intellectually dishonest. You really think there’s a realm where Dâvide gets called prior to Mitchkov if the kid is from Moosejaw? Lmao
