That’s right — my only confusion is the D2 comment. Unforced error.

In any case… he’s a heck of a prospect huh? Very mature. I see the Weber comparisons.
I have a tough time grasping what he meant by his 2D comment too. Well, for what its worth anyway. And yes indeed, a helluva prospects. Would have been quite the thing tho to dont have a helluva prospects with what we had on the table.

I am not sure if i see Weber tho, because this one was a physical specimen. I think Reinbacher is more in the mould of a Heiskanen/Doughty/Pietrangelo. He will probably hold anyone physically in the league but i don't see him punishing as hard as Weber. He also has way better skating and fluidity than Weber.

I think we can consensually agree tho that we are still missing an offensive element. But at least now we can see a very nice young core developping and we should have both the cap space and the assets to be agressive to acquire the next big player available. 2025 CGY 1st i believe might be a very valuable assets down the road.

Matheson and Hutson will provide offence from the back in addition to a moderate amount from Reinbacher and Guhle and even Xhekaj or Harris

Offence from up front will come from Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky (hopefully real soon), Anderson and we need two more to hit 7 core forwards (Monahan for now if healthy is one).

Newhook is one.

The other one will come via FA or trade in two years.

In two years all our bad contract are done except Gally but he will be buyable at this point.

Just FYI, Blashill and Yzerman described Seider similar to Hughes and Reinbacher after drafting him. Called him "one of the top defensemen", Blashill called him someone with the potential to be a top four defenseman. Yzerman said he's an all situation guy, but didn't want to create the illusion that he's an offensive guy. Called him a really good kid and really good player. Heck, even mentioned they wanted to trade back and had to elaborate why it wasn't a need pick (adding anyone they would have chosen would have filled a need).

Sound familiar ?

I mean, I think people would definitely have nitpicked the hell out of those comments over here lol (which isn't a criticism of the board, teams generally don't have the same kind of expectations even for top picks - I would actually be wary when management isn't like that).

It's extremely blasphemous, and in no way do I think he'll ever win 7 Norris trophies, no one can. But that's who comes to my mind when I watch him play. More realistically in terms of output I think of Dobson.

He's another guy who was said to not be dynamic enough, who created offense from defense, transition, getting pucks through, and being on the ice a lot.
I thought you were being facetious lol

Personally I thought Dobson has more high end traits, was very high on Dobson think I had him 7th or something, but fair enough.

I don't know French, but the English part was quite clear to me. He qualified his comment by asking does a #1D have to necessarily run your 1st powerplay unit. He thinks he doesn't and still be your most important defenceman.

I think no other GM has his words dissected the way we do around here.

You’d be surprised what happens on other forums. At least Hughes can draw from a stack of goodwill that he’s built up since last season.

It’s the first time that I’ve seen him stumble on his messaging. What stood out also was the minute eating comment — clearly they see Reinbacher logging in a ton of minutes.

As for the rest, he said, they said — the player’s performance will do the talking.

Revenge tour of Jack Todd!

Ya the organization really showed us when they turned the 3rd OA pick (and more) into Dvorak who doesn't have positive value at his current contract. GOTTEM! SUCK ON THAT FANS.

Todd should now compare the KK pick made by the actual people in charge of the Habs to the people in charge of the other teams. You know, the team that took Tkachuk over Zadina as well, the one that took Hayton over him, and the one that had Q.Hughes ranked #3 overall.

Not getting how come the Michkov people are the same as the Zadina people. I am a Michkov person but wasnt a Zadina. Makes no sense whatsoever.

Todd is so clueless and out of touch, I’m surprised he’s still getting posted about.

My favorite Todd moments were when he got into a vicious spat with our t-shirt guy on Twitter (the zingers were epic).

And the time he was on Melnick’s afternoon show doing a weekly gig. Todd was always a few seconds away from a meltdown, which did happen live on air. Melnick told him he had to put him on hold and Todd immediately felt slighted by it and hung up. He was never heard on 690 again, although there is merit to that. :sarcasm:

If I can offer a solution #2 for the name transformation and tacky popcorn brand associate with Reinbacher, here's someting more interresting : how about the famous guitars Rickenbacker ?
They sounds great with an unique tone, from the Beatles to Roger McGuinn and many others, these guitars sounds more than great and I'm in love with their look.
Sorry, not a good pick of George Harrison but his guitar ! Legendary !

A thing of beauty. Definitely different than your classic Fender or Gibson. I love those Rickenbacker too. Would sound like a charm in a Fender deluxe reverb.

That’s a classic. All the bands I played in included a bass player that had one.

The guitarist in my family who also plays bass could not be bothered with any of the classic axes. Says they weigh too much but man they sounded and played great.

They are also very durable instruments. In the words of Kent Hughes, they’re solid minute-eaters. :sarcasm:

Well, if Caufield gets 50 goals, Suzuki should not be far from 100 points, particularly in the conditions I described which is with a second line capable of producing, and a strong winger to go with 14+22.
Suzuki ain't a 100 pt player bruh. Sorry to burst your bubble. And caufield ain't a 50 goal scorer either. 40-45 yes but not 50. Even if he gets 50 during one peak season, dont mean suzi will get a 100 pts. In fact, caufield will be the team's best offensive player( if he isn't already) and point leader.

Ok. Personally i don't take anything from what he said both on Slaf and on Reinbacher.

I don't feel he pumped Slafkovsky nor does i felt he expressed doubt about Reinbacher upside.

Its a case where i believe actions speak louder than words. He drafted Slaf above Cooley and Wright. He drafted Reinbacher above Michkov and Leonard.

Thats all i need to know to feel what Hughes and his brass may see in these players
very well resumed . If they passed over Michkov or Leonard, it can't be about political decision, but that they were sold to Rein

Anyone who can regularly score 40-45 has a shot at being a 50 goal scorer. Also Caufield has 48 goals over his last 83 games, so your projection of 40-45 means you think he will actually regress in terms of goal scoring.

Any guitar of bass player with $$$ should own a Gibson, a Fender and a Rickenbacker. It's a must.
More $$$ is to own many of them and other brands too.

Warmed up to the pick. Hopefully he becomes a top paring two-way defenseman munching around 25 minutes a games.

Still think habs lack 1 superstar up front.
I don't know. I believe that the team that is very good on the four lines is better then the one having a star but lacking depth. I am looking at the Leafs, the Oilers and it shows that. When the Habs have eliminated the Leafs, they weren't an offensive dynamo at all, but they were able to dominate a couple of lines, and with their physical game to scare the stars of the Leafs

Just read Todd's responses to others on Twitter. He's the most thin-skinned loser in Habs media. He actually got offended and threw a hissy fit over someone calling him "Jack Jack Jack."
