This board has to decide which way it is going to go. First it pushes draft picks that are wings to center. Then we learn that switching sides is pretty easy. Now we are complaining about Lafreniere having all of two games on the right side. Something is not really jiving here.

Howden had all of 17 seconds on the second power play unit. How many did Kakko have? Want to guess? Lemieux plays a different side than Kakko. Lafreniere playing on the right is a managerial crime, but here you want to push Kakko on his opposite side? Let's at least be consistent about what we are complaining about. Pretty sure that Quinn said that Howden was out there for a draw.

So DeAngelo, Fox, etc. all played great and it was all in spite of Quinn. However, some unevenness in the youngest team in the league after a 2 week training camp with ZERO pre-season games, all the while learning a new defensive system and it is all Quinn's fault. Makes sense.
Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Panarin-Fox

Lafreniere-Strome-Kakko
DeAngelo-Trouba/Chytil

This can't work for both PP units? Where am I pushing anybody out of their position? As far as the people that wanted our picks to move to the center, I agree, they're out of their mind, and I have always believed that. If he put Strome on PP2 like he should be, he wouldn't have to use the "Howden was out there because I needed a C" excuse.

You cited Lemieux as a reason for your ire regarding Kakko not playing. As they play on two different sides of the ice, it is not really an argument.

Again, I also want to see them on the second PP unit. But given how much time it actually plays, it is not really a needle mover for me.

The board has a lot of contributors. No need for everyone to have the same thoughts. 10 people wanting to move wings to center does not mean "the board" does.

Well, when I mentioned Lemieux I was referring to the PP. My bad if I didn't make that clearer.

Certainly fair. Perhaps those voices are just louder than others.

I've been pretty grateful for True Blue's down-to-earth optimism the past few days. There is WAY to much doom going on on this board. It's okay to be nervous about ruining the most talented prospect pool we've ever had, but some of you guys are super unreasonable. And this is coming from one of the most pessimistic people you'll ever meet.

JJ's usage is really the only huge concern for me at this point, and for what it's worth he wasn't the absolute worst 1 out of the 3 games we have played. I'm sure it's more about humoring the new coach, but if he continues to suck I truly think DQ will start scratching him.

It's like watching a burrito spin in the microwave after having not ate in days. We all wanna just open the microwave early and woof it down, but ya gotta let the thing finish cooking people. It's only been 3 games. THREE. We have a tighter schedule the next 3 weeks, we'll have a better picture by then.

This place has become the Leafs board.

Seems like there was something off between Anderson and the org, last year something between Kravtsov and the org. Last year, Kaapo was quoted on a finnish podcast as questioning why he loses icetime for mistakes when others do not. Eventually, some are going to question if the problem lies with the player.

Far more often than not, the problem lies with the player rather than the coach.

I understand that most players in the NHL think they should be out there 20 minutes a game. They've all spent their careers at lower levels, as stars.

Fans often think that if only the coach would do as they want, that things would be much better. Sometimes they are right. Most of the time they are wrong.

A new ghost system keeps getting referenced by a few just because Martin is here.
I have news for you..There is no new system.
They're playing the same non existent garbage they've playing for the 3rd year in a row.
The only difference is the PK has went into full pylon mode lol

When Quinn was hired a few posters including @Edge suggested Quinn was a good coach for the present but might not be the coach you ultimately compete for a Stanley Cup with. I concur and I see that playing out with this team.

Quinn's forte is player development. He is an intense coach who works his players hard and prioritizes the performance of each player. What he is not is a brilliant game tactician and strategist.

I see Quinn building the base and developing players, eventually struggling and losing the team and being replaced with a win now veteran coach once the Rangers get closer.

No offense to you, your post/opinion but the fact that this is even a thing turns my stomach?

JG turned the NYR into a developmental team all while Drury hasn't done shit in the AHL.

The fact that all this goes on without repercussion, is a joke.

DQ is a terrible choice of coach on every level.
He will just never be the guy..

This is all a bunch of no brainer nonsense to me!

But that is the way of the world, is it not? Someone brings them along, shows them where to hold the knife and fork, put a napkin in their lap, and then someone else shows them how to talk at the adult table.

There’s too much to love here to not post it.

Did you see him have any kind of clear and consise game plan?
Counter line matchups?
Produce lines that have any kind of chemistry after juggling them a hundred times?
Any kind of defensive structure?
Put players in a position to succeed?

What are you blowing this guy?

Give it a f***ing rest already..
Yawn.....one of my two favorite Quinn trolls.

I get people want to see wins and season 3 is about the time hockey fans start turning on their coach. Yet, we just had our fourth GDT of the year in which we’re blown away by how good Miller, Fox and Chytil look. A year after we reveled in how quickly Lindgren and Igor fit in, how Buch was taking the next step and how ADA finally showed (in his 3rd organization) what he can be.

We brought Quinn in to be a developmental coach. So you can be excited about the development of the youth under his watch or you can complain constantly and want him fired cause of how he uses JJ, Strome or whoever your scapegoat is on a given night. But doesn’t sound like you can have it both ways.
