Everything that’s happened here with the front office and coaching staff is spot friggen on.

all of this needed to be done. A total circus for two years Dolan saw it, he had what many consider to be a star GM in the making (Drury) waiting in wings and he pulled the trigger.

Dolan believes he knows basketball. He feels he can help the knicks (he doesn’t) He has a passion for basketball. I have met the man many times I’ve been invited to his suite I’ve talked to him about hockey. He wants to win but he admits he knows very little about the game. He trusted sather to do the work because he didn’t want to be involved. People seem to think otherwise but it’s not the case when it comes to hockey.

what he clearly didn’t like was seeing his proud franchise look like a circus for 2 years after sather stepped down and clearly a lack of loyalty.

He did exactly the right thing. And Drury is doing exactly the right thing now. Firing a guy that had no idea what he was doing at the nhl level. His next move should be to fire Gordie Clark too.
Circus = Best prospect pool in league, youngest team, with a Hart finalist, Norris finalist and a #2 overall, #1 overall pick consecutively, a team 90% of pundits said "were on the precipice of being REALLY good for a REALLY LONG TIME.

Got it.

Does anyone think if Paul Maurice loses in the first round he gets canned? Would love him as coach.

Don La Greca says if it’s not Torts he would be shocked. For whatever it’s worth.

Does he think he has an inside info or just that since Torts has a history here it's possible

As for Babcock...I think there's a very big question about how good a coach he really is and how much he benefited from being gifted a talented Red Wings team and Leafs team with a huge amount of talent as well.
But it's a huge issue that many former players have spoken out about how he treated them. It's one thing to be the hardass coach that players don't like but will play for, it's another to be the coach that players actually hate and don't want to play for because of how awful he is towards them. That is the risk with Babock...he has done some really shitty things to players that go beyond "I'm a hardass uniting the players against me"

Going back to the Torts well would scream Dolan/Sather influence.

He left Columbus in shambles. PLD out, and the highly talented 2OA pick they got in return spent time on the 4th line and is probably on his way out as well. Werenski didn’t want to commit long term. Now concerning quotes from Jones on breakup day? Yea...

Same old with Torts...when you're winning he's a great coach, when you start losing it's terrible.

That's probably their primary trade chip anyway.

As uncomfortable as that might be for some fans.
not as uncomfortable with Kakko and Kravtsov.

Fix the balance of the roster. We will always have an issue at LW, so Center and RW need to be 'dealt with'.

Well he is the Rangers radio play by play guy so he would have some info from people inside the organization. We also know that Dolan personally loves Torts.

Let's assume for a second that the team is very high on Knoblauch but wants him to coach a couple of years in the AHL. He appears to be more of a players coach. Would it not be a good idea to bring in someone like Hartley or Torts for a couple of years knowing Knoblauch could come in at that time and probably know quite a few players from his AHL time?

I don't think it's really the right move but I don't think Torts would be terrible.
Unfortunately just think it'd mean more spinning in place because I don't think he's the guy who can pull this team together

Did you watch Tortorella blow up Columbus? He may have set that franchise back 10 years.
