the Bruins are finally doing something smart by putting Pasta front & center in all the Winter Classic promotion. Guy is so loveable and a great ambassador for the Bruins and hockey. Would be very good for them to be able to announce his extension during the festivities.

So if the rumors are true of Pastrnak at $11m that will take the cap down to $8,937,500 (with the bergy and krejci bonuses included at $4.5m total).

So the B's will have approximately $8,937,500 to fill:

1c, 2c, 3LW, 3RW, 4LW, 4c, 4RW, 3rd pairing RD, swayman.

No way around it, Bruins will have to move some money out this offseason. The question will be is freeing up $6.8m by moving Reilly and Gryz going to be enough? Moving those two will give the Bruins $15.6m in cap space, but also create two more spots to fill (Lohrei and a cheap veteran around $1.5m maybe?)

I dont know, but expect a crazy offseason like we havent seen for the Bruins in a while.

people have been worrying about our cap for over 10 years and we've been fine.

Massachusetts

IF Barry is saying the report of 8yrs- 88m is “rubbish” does that mean he may think 88m is a rubbish offer?? I hope Barry isn’t trying for the homerun 13m per. I imagine every against knows McDavid is up soon and will make upwards of 15-16m per. Maybe 13m is the new 10m. Not to mention the Massachusetts “millionaires tax hike”.

“What’s a few million here or there? Wouldn’t it be cute if it came out to $88 million to match the jersey number?”

Hot take.

Teams still stacked with out Bergeron and krecji. This idea that the team would fall off a cliff is ridiculous. Lots of amazing players are locked in beyond this year. The whole defensive core for instance. The two solid goalies. The super deep winger position.

Every team in the world
You do realize that literally the only top players on forwards signed beyond this season is Hall, Marchand, Debrusk. Coyle is as well but he is third line and we already seen he can’t handle top 2 line center duties. There are a lot of sifting this off season that is needed.

Also when you start removing Bergeron and Krejci teams can now focus on the other players. We have seen Hall has trouble when he is the only focus on a team and that was one with Eichel, though I believe he was hurt? through most of his tenure there.

Now if you are trying to build a team and need a top center, your cap hit is going to be tough, not only that we will have a lot of dead money with bonuses for both those guys too.

Also how crappy of fans to expect these two centers to play for peanuts like they did this year. We owe alot of how this team to those two taking meager salaries. They bailed out Sweeney.
