i wouldn't say that anymore.. the way luongo has handled this whole situation has been first class. if he does stay with vancouver i don't think it'll be as big of a cancer as once thought.

I agree with you on that, and I have no dislike for Luongo at all and think he is a good goaltender. But that doesn't change the fact that if Burke got fired - even in part - because of his insistence to use his being in an advantageous position over another GM who everybody across the league knows is itching to unload his goaltender then it's quite clear mgmt is @@#$d.

Yes, you are correct. Phil Kessel and Roberto Luongo are not the same person, sources say.

I agree it won't happen. Mccown has no idea what he's talking about, so I'm not too worried.
Phil Kessel and Roberto Luongo have drastically different circumstances surrounding them and fit into the core of a team in a vastly different manner as well, sources say. The two trades would be about as comparable as the Oilers and the Flames.

Toronto owns the NHL’s longest active playoff drought, having not made an appearance since before the last lockout, nine years ago. The Leafs finished 12 points out of the post-season last year, 13th overall in the Eastern Conference.

Well I don't expect this to have much if any affect on the team performance this season. Going to be an interesting off-season to see what Nonis (or whoever should Nonis be replaced) does as his first off-season as Leafs GM.

I wouldnt do that trade either, but if Burke was fired because a bunch of suits didn't agree with the hockey guy, BIG PROBLEMS ahead!!

U think?

Love or hate Burke he was the first non puppet GM since Punch!

We are screwed... We are going to have suits building this team like its a shinny new toy to play with...

people really dont know how bad this is...

Odd timing though. Nonis is no better. I think the pressure is on because of what AA did with the Blue Jays; fans are getting sick and tired of the same crap.

Good riddance Burkie!

And?

Tyler Bozak, Cody Franson, Jesse Blacker and Carter Ashton for Roberto Luongo

It's not firing Burke that is the issue, it is the absolutely abysmal, mickey mouse, timing.

So are people that can't spell.

BOB MCCOWAN BOB MCCOWAN BOB MCCOWAN BOB MCCOWAN BOB MCCOWAN BOB MCCOWAN BOB MCCOWAN BOB MCCOWAN BOB MCCOWAN BOB MCCOWAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't give a flying **** about that ******, nor do I care about how to spell his name correctly. He doesn't deserve the time of day, let alone the effort to spell his name correctly or even care about it.

However it is rather entertaining that you care so much about an extra "a" in Bob McCowans name.

Thanks tips. I hear the Leafs are also blue. Confirm/deny?

I'm celebrating. Never liked burkie and still think he's overrated. The problem with the leafs has always been BAD MANAGEMENT. To the new owners: do something about it.

I don't believe this is just about Luongo. With that contract, the new owners probably DIDN'T want him to do any deal.

I think the new owners had five months of seeing what a porcupine Burke is in his demeanor, saw that they had almost the exact same knowledge base and experience in Nonis, saw the last 4 years of almost no progress at all, and said "Why are we paying this guy $6 million a year again?" Buh-bye.
