Nurse barely plays the PP haha. He's averaged like 5 PP points per year over the past few.

I'd actually be interested to see what happens if Nurse was on a PP with McDavid and Drai regularly as well. Nurse's points are nearly all even strength.

9.5 million that literally f***ed the entire market with a NMC for a second pairing defensemen. Imagine Nurse on a team with no free points from McDavid and Drai.

He's a elite #3 or average top pairing defensemen. Similar to Fowler impact wise just different style type games. Only difference is he makes 9.5 million for whatever reason. Oilers won't win a cup with him on top pairing making 9.5 million I'd bet the barn on that. Just like the Ducks never won a cup with Fowler there. They are both elite #3 or decent/good #2s. 9.5 million.... for Nurse.... 9.5 freaking million wow I still can't believe it.

He's probably a 60 point defenseman if he's on the powerplay. Plus he brings it on the PK, hits like a tank, skates like the wind, stands up for teammates, etc. Like I said, check out who actually broke the defenseman market with the signings that happened before Nurse was signed. But Nurse will go forward as "overpaid" because he was paid in part due to his goal scoring last season, which will drop this year, while nobody recognizes that he is still going to put up 40 -45 even strength points this year.

"Average" top pairing isn't second pairing either even if it was true. The guy is a #1 defenseman.

He was NOT a lock for the Canadian team. He was not on any list. He did not even make the short list. He is $5 - $5.5m player.

If you think he's better than Hampus Lindholm I don't know what to tell you. Hampus has similar advanced stats to Hedman this season and he's playing next to a 19 year old. But the Ducks are a bad team and they don't have two of the best players in the league. The Ducks were projected to be a bottom 3 team so I would say they are pretty bad right now.

I'm not going to run down Lindholm as he is good, but he has only one dimension to his game. Great defensive defenseman, absolutely, and he's having the best year of his career so far (and his next payday will reflect that). I think Nurse is comparable. Not as steady defensively but far more physical and more dynamic offensively.

Darnell Nurse makes almost the same amount that Adam Fox will make next season and that Cale Makar makes this season. That is mind boggling. He is a $6 million dollar defenseman at best. On a good team he is a 2nd pair defenseman.

Nurse is a number 2 dmen on most of the playoff teams. Number 3 on a couple of the contenders.
Fans are either bashing him unfairly or making him into something he into this top pairing dman on the Canadian National team.

His contract I will hurt his trade value. And I don’t understand why Edmonton would move him? No team will trade a better dman for him so what is the point of moving your best defensive player. Just waisted more of McD and Dri careers
