It makes no sense for Oilers to trade Nurse since they are in a win-now situation. Draisaitl and McDavids contracts are ticking.

IF they were to trade Nurse it would have to be a hockey deal, they would have to get big needs back and not futures.
And..One of their biggest needs are on defense. And they cant replace Nurse.

With Holland as GM we might not make the damn playoffs . I wouldn't trust this team management with a potato gun . Holland seems like a nice guy which isn't good when you are making trades or signing contracts . If I was Holland I wouldn't offer Nurse 7.25 X 5,6,7,8 his choice take it or leave it . If he passed I would of traded him last summer . Keith deal with out retention I would told Chicago where to go and how to get there or made them take back Kassian .

He is not better than Cam Fowler, and I am not a huge Cam Fowler fan (ask the Ducks board) and Nurse makes about 3 million dollars more....Nurse should pay Drai/McDavid 3 million dollars a year...and his agent an extra million a year for pulling that deal out.

I’ve always thought he was a good Seabrook comparison, and now with his salary (and ironically Keith kicking around) it seems even more so.

Two big, versatile defenders capable of being on top pairing, but being overpaid to do so. And I think the Nurse situation will likely unfold much like Seabrooks, albeit probably without the multiple rings. I think he may well play must of the rest of his career on the Oilers, to varying degrees of success and increasing complaints about his contract until he gets off-loaded near the end of his term with a sweetener.

Why would the Oilers miss the playoffs? Division isn't strong and they have been pretty decent this year.

They are 2-6-2 in their last 10 games, and have a very thin point advantage over the others teams fighting for the last wildcard spot in the west. If they keep playing like they have been recently, it won't be long before some of Los Angeles, Dallas or San Jose pass them. Even Vancouver could pass them if they keep their hot streak going.
