He was getting playing time but played his way out of a regular shift. No idea if this will continue or not (but the fact that he had a goal against in one of his 2 shifts doesn't help), but he's been struggling to use his linemates and deal with the speed of the SHL.
I didn't realize he played his way out of the lineup. Hopefully he can earn his way back in and respond to the wakeup call and be better for it. He looked good in the short video clip, but you could tell from that short clip that he was trying to do too much himself. Hopefully he will figure out and continue to develop.

No he didn't. He looked like he was making bad decisions and not utilizing his teammates. He got away with it because its the SHL not NHL. But he also didn't create anything. He skated through 5 guys and ended up not getting a shot off. The goal is to score goals, not skate up the ice and turn the puck over. He's young, so I am not worried. But there was plenty in that twitter clip that justifies him being benched.

a player who excelled in part because of a size and strength advantage against his peers, is struggling against bigger stronger players, it certainly is a potential warning sign

If this continues I would try to find a way to buy him out of his contract if I was the Blues (and if it was possible, I don't know the rules)

This feels like much more of an indictment of how crappy his team is than dvo himself. For an 18 yo making his debut in top league in Western Europe, they sure aren’t putting him into position to succeed.

They got dominated today without him. Hopefully they realize their problems ain’t due to some 18 year old kid.
It's not his fault obviously, but he has been pretty bad so far. This is a pro league that wants to win games and not get relegated, so if he's not performing this should be expected. Hopefully when he gets into the lineup again he can reset and get something going, otherwise it might be good to explore some other options. I wonder if we can put him in the ECHL.

If Dvorsky sucks so bad for them they should just buy him out and let the Blues do what they want with his development.

The way I understand it, if the SHL team terminates the contract, the Blues are free to place Dvorsky in the AHL if that’s what the player/team agree on. Can they also negotiate a transfer to a different SHL team?

It would be better for all parties to figure it out at the SHL level, this year, but it doesn’t seem to be trending in that direction.

Is there precedent for a team bringing a 18/19 yr old SHL player to the AHL after the WJC?

What are the rules on transfer agreements? Dvorsky is on loan right now and under contract with the Blues. Hinterland on the main boards says we can pull him at any time but I couldn't find anything on the details of the loan agreements when I looked online today.

It reads like the NHL is the master agreement; however, there are potential clauses in the SHL contract that could give them certain protections and recourse avenues. I would have to imagine the Blues could also have a clause about an TOI threshold under the terms of the loan agreement.

The GPT answer:

A player on an NHL contract, under loan to an SHL team can be transferred if the player, NHL team, SHL team, and SHL league authorities agree on the change. The exact process and conditions are negotiated in advance under the terms of the loan agreement.

If he is not ready for the SHL, why do we want to put him in the AHL? I think dropping down a league or playing in the CHL would be better for him.

However, working hard to get back into the lineup may also help his development. A little perseverance never hurt anyone.

Playing time is so critical for young players. Practice and training is all well and good, but in game plays and decision making don’t really happen. I’m glad he’s playing against men, I just wish it was in the second tier so he could actually play. Let him earn his way back to the SHL.
