Its a very steep price, but its worth it. Benn is one of the elite forwards in the game. If he can keep it up for at least 5-6 years, it won't be an albatross.

Elated with this news, I'm glad there won't be a media circus following Benn around all season, snooping for quotes and rumours like we saw with Stamkos. :shakehead

He wanted a deal done quickly, and he got it. Now to shore up the rest of the team around him and hopefully the Stars can remain a top tier team for the duration of Benn's contract. :yo:

Hopefully now he keeps his temper in check, and tones down some of the dirtiness.

9.5 million is a lot for a winger, especially a PF like Benn until 35

This is a huge cap hit, but the Stars have good cap management. The important thing is keeping the player.

They have Klingberg on that amazing cap hit for 6 more years. Their overspending in net likely won't continue past their current goalie contracts.

The cap will likely be much higher when Benn is 34..

Honestly I doubt it will go up all that much. 9.5 million will still be a lot. Not sure why people feel it is so guaranteed, I would love to borrow their crystal ball. I however think that Jamie will still be very productive at that age though.
