Confirmed with Link: Dadonov (50% retained) to Stars in exchange for Gurianov

Asset Management....Hughes turned Weber's dead contract into a RFA 25 years old, ex 12th overall who had a good start in the NHL for the 2 years. Even if it failed, it still better than a dead contract
The funny thing is Weber had become a liability not an asset. I never complained vehemently about Daddy for this very reason. He did have me scratching my head however.

Does Gurionov make Anderson expendable? Very similar style players. Big, fast and inconsistent.
I thought they make adorable bookends. Just slip Suzuki in the middle.

team looks not overly friendly, jesus smile a bit you are all rich, your women are all hot, you travel privately and will be golfing soon. Allen looks like someone put poo in his gloves and he's out for blood.
They are sad because they lost their "smily" teamate Dadonov !

To break up that RHP-Suzuki-Anderson line means that MSL got the memo that we don't want to win too much
Suzuki must be "happy" about that.....:sarcasm:

He might have a strong 20 game run, but I still don't think that's enough to make a reasonable evaluation of what he will be long term. We've seen countless players come and go that do the little tease, and then fall off a cliff.

And if he does have that strong run, he's up for a new contract and will be making a more than insignificant cap hit.

I'd be a a little nervous about committing to him in that scenario, but I suppose HuGo wouldn't even think about doing anything long term anyways.
Yeah. Could be another Rem Pitlick that looked very good last season, but far from that this year.

Though rem never did what this guy did in the nhl before coming here .
His playoff run was something

LOL
i'm gonna have Hoffman penciled in our top 6 in my nightmares for YEARS after the fact i just f***ing know it mannn
He's playing close to a 2nd line winger level these days.

Farrell will likely replace him the following year.

Gurianov is RFA at the end of the season, and his current salary is $2.9M, so that means $3.3M next year. If the guy end up not bouncing back, that's a lot of money for a 4th liner/healthy scratch. If he doesn't help in the short term, I don't see him either in 3-4 years as part of a competitive team.

The next few weeks will see, but if he doesn't really pan out, they may have missed a 4th rounder or something they could have got for Dadonov. For what that's worth anyways!
They can always sign Gurianov for one year only and flip him at next deadline. They’d probably get better than a 4th for him at that point. Plus, we have a ton of picks this year anyway, won’t hurt to generate one later.

i think Hughes has a plan for Gurianov. I think he compliments Dach very well. Looking at his goal highlights and metrics it is obvious he needs a set-up guy and someone to pass to on zone entries. With all the contracts we are shedding $3M is not too much for a middle six winger with those qualities.

Gurianov - Dach - Slafkovsky

Could be a sick line next year, skilled and big.

Gives me a reason to watch each line:

- line 1: How will Gurianov do with Suzuki?
- line 2: Can RHP & Anderson keepnitvup, even when Drouin is their center?
- line 3: Ylonen
Line 4: Thierney and Belzile.
That is impressive dedication.

Most of us would have bailed much earlier rather than dig into that toxic ditch as deeply as you have.

pretty sure can they just not qualify him at that amount but negotiate a longer deal like what happened with Pitlick this past summer.

If he plays remotely well, I’m sure they’ll bring him back but at a lower salary.

Rem had unsustainable shooting percentage last season. Gurianov never did, he just generated a lots of shots with like 10% shooting percentage for 3 seasons until this season where it is at 2.9% (with lower TOI, so less shots and less points).

Or sign him to a shorter one-year, show me deal? Were he to pull a Pitlick, he’d be easier to move at the deadline.

I'm very optimist about him. I think he can surprise people and become a really good player for Habs. If he have the chance to play more minute, that's going to be fun to watch.

This guy have tools, needed a change of scenary !
