Confirmed with Link: Dadonov (50% retained) to Stars in exchange for Gurianov

I just went to see Gurianov's stats, his shooting percentage is 2.9% this year. He had 15% in his first season, then 9% (yet his production increased overall) and 7% last year (production stable). His puck possession numbers haven't really changed over that time (slightly down this year after a coach change).

He might actually be fixable for goalscoring at least.

he will in the KHL next year.
Its a 20 game test , hes not even worth his QA at this point.
Its make the team or go play in another league.
Hes big and soft and turning 26.

Why do you think Dallas traded him for freaking Dadonov? You think the Stars didnt do their job to let him go? its like 10 coin flip they all need to land on ur 10 predictions if he can make it which is not really looking good at this moment.
Habs just try something with really low odds for 20 games and if he doesnt work then more money for next season and thats it.

We also have to fill jerseys for the rest of the season. Id understand why we didnt get a pick instead. If habs lets stay trade 2 more players , they will need people to wear the jersey for games.

I mean he might just need a change of scenery, and maybe he'll thrive here if he gets time.

His underlying offense metrics are a serious concern with him this season considering he only has 9 points AND he is actually producing MORE than expected (his RAPM GF/60 is higher than his RAPM xGF/60, his Off GAR is higher than his Off xGAR). Individually he should still have more goals, but his offensive contribution has been worrying. In previous seasons he produced like you'd expect of an average 3rd liner, and his offensive contribution was on par with his expected contribution.

Hopefully he can bounce back and we have the new Nichushkin between our hands, but that'd surprise me. \o/

Gurianov has scored 20 goals two years ago + 9 during their Stanley Cup run.

Thre is something wrong with him OUTSIDE hockey. Family ? Addiction ?
maybe one bad year , and he is russian, so i understand he could have a lot of uncertainties in his head during this period

One thing Gurianov can do is fly. Very mobile for a big guy.

This trade reinforces management's belief in trading for players based on their potential and skillset. I really like the approach as we have nothing to lose in giving these guys ice time and we now have a dedicated development staff that can help a player get to where they should be.

Worst case, we dont bring back Denis (which was going to happen with Dadonov anyways). Best case, he finds his game and we find a top 6 sniper that we need.

Yep.. the worst case scenario here is you cut bait with Gurianov at the end of the year.

The best case is that you bring him back to where he was not long ago and see whether you can Nichuskin his ass.

We don't need more 4th or 5th round picks.
Agreed, we have a lot of picks coming up. Unless its a top 90 pick, taking flyers on once promising players who are still relatively young is what we should aim for and its something Hughes has indicated before. Unlike the Bergevin era, we actually have the staff and resources to help get some of these players who have hit a snag in their development. Obviously no guarantees they will turn out great but thats the same risk with prospects with lower picks anyways

I can also see that management like players with size . Slafkovsky, Dach, Gurianov are young and big , They are also the only players that Hughes really wanted to bring in. (Monahan and Dadonov were brought on short term for others reasons).

Yes, Hughes said he wanted to get bigger. Heineman is another one.

But, they also drafted a lot of small players (Hutson, Mesar, Tourigny). So that tells me they'll also acquire talent without size if the opportunity presents itself.

"Evegenii, come in... shut the door"
"What is it boss?"
"There's no easy way to say this so...
"No..."
"Yes, you've been traded"
"No! Not Siberia!"
"...errr, no, no to Dallas"
"Oh praise the Lord"
"Hey Evgenii do you know what we call Texas?"

"No?"

"The Siberia of the Americas! AHAHAHAHA!"

"NOOOOOooooooo....."

He's fine though, no Siberia. He can stay in Dallas after & become a cattle rustler.

Does Anderson really hit though? When was the last time you saw Anderson line a guy up and mail him?

He has 110 hits....so yes he does hit. He doesn't crush people very often nor should he. Massive hits are overrated by fans and they just walk him down the road to further shoulder problems. He separates opponents from the puck and that is all that matters and is all that is asked of players making significant money. Let the 4th line disposable plugs recklessly throw their bodies around but you absolutely do not want your best players doing it on a regular basis.

It is the same poor narrative that Pacioretty faced as he was still throwing more hits than almost all of the league's 30 + goal scorers but because he didn't throw himself around like he did early in his career this somehow made him soft.
