Confirmed with Link: Dadonov (50% retained) to Stars in exchange for Gurianov

It's worth seeing what he can bring in a full season. Even if he doesn't produce much till the end of the season we should still give him a shot in a brand new season. Dadonov is old and almost done, Guri is only 25 and fits our core.

He's turning 26 , the last 20 games will be his contract worth.
Im sure we can find a better ufa or kid for a 10 point player if he doesnt pan out

After reading a few comments , I understand that we’ve just acquired another Armia?

Big body , 1st rounder , good shot , can cycle , no heart.

I expected nothing out of Dadonov , so I’m happy. We resign Gurianov for 1 year if he looks good . If not , it’s easy to let him walk. Good trade

It's a little like the Matheson-Petry trade. Notwithstanding the ages of the players (and not counting throw-ins), the value is comparable, but when you consider the age disparity of the main players involved, we come out ahead. I don't know how HuGo gets other teams to bite in that way. In both cases, our outgoing players had close to negative value.

He might have a strong 20 game run, but I still don't think that's enough to make a reasonable evaluation of what he will be long term. We've seen countless players come and go that do the little tease, and then fall off a cliff.

And if he does have that strong run, he's up for a new contract and will be making a more than insignificant cap hit.

I'd be a a little nervous about committing to him in that scenario, but I suppose HuGo wouldn't even think about doing anything long term anyways.

I wouldn't have minded a 7th round pick for him (although I'm sure he would be able to get a better pick than this). But getting Gurianov is still a positive.

It's obvious that there weren't many teams lining up to get Dadonov. According to Lebrun, Jets were interested, but they went with Nino. And thus, Habs only had Dallas as an option, and they were willing to make the deal if Gurianov was the return.

And if they kept Dadonov, it would have been fine. Because his value was that he'd come off the cap this off-season.

indeed , I feel like its a mini gamble if there is no sign in 20 games then just move on. We are not losing anything in this and we fill a jersey for the rest of the season.
 
They're going to need bodies not only to finish the season, but for next as well. He may be one of them. Maybe even Tierney.

I like this move a lot .Getting speed and size on the wing is by itself a win,win .
There is another Russian similar to him on the Blues.Suzuki would like play with an old Jr teamate.

Armia never put up 27gp 9g 8a 17p in the playoffs. Armia is a useless tit.

Useless old crap who was getting too hot for the tank switched for a disappointing player with an upper 1st round draft pedigree and size. There's nothing to lose. Just don't fall in love with him, if he has 6-7 points. I am even willing to extend him for 1-2 years, but only if close to Rem Pitlick's salary.
