the next John Leclair,

Gurianov - Dach- Anderson

Speed, size , heavy shuts , here they are the new " Legion of Doom ":hit::hit::hit:

Legion of Poutine

He's super fast and can shoot the puck but basically everything else about his game is garbage. Even worse than Anderson, plus not really physical either.

Even if he manages to pick it up a bit in these last 20 games in Montreal, that QO is still going to be way too high. So he's most likely going to become UFA.

I would've rather taken even a 7th rounder, but perhaps that was never offered. This is just whatever.

Yeah i'd rather have had a pick but I don't think it was possible considering the cap implications.
Who knows maybe HuGo are high on Guri

you right . He plays like a 67 yo ! At least most of them .
I can’t stop laughing that after seeing dandonov for 3/4 of a season , some poster telling me what he done in the past lol

Yeah, not a home run by any stretch. But DeBarf can screw up players. Not a fan of this coach. Let’s see what version we get.
I see it as a home run, even if he fails , we still gave up nothing

"We traded Evgenii? Now who am I gonna threaten with sending to Siberia?"

"Hello, I am Denis Gurianov from Togliatti, Russia."

"Perfect."

Good trade, I did not hate Dads as others here did. He was always trying, just had nothing left in the tank at his age. All the best Dads, no Siberia for you m'man.

The Habs will qualify him @ 2.9 mil. They have the capspace and HuGo would have accepted future considerations or a 7th rounder. No reason to trade for a potential bust otherwise. The Habs believe their chances are incredibly slim of landing UFAs which merits this move.
It's doubtful Dallas would have traded for Dadonov without what in their view was dead cap going the other way so it's doubtful Dadonov for a 7th rounder was even on the table.

And I very much doubt they will qualify him at almost 3m, even if he rebounds and we let him walk so he becomes a UFA he isn't going to get anything close to 2.9m from any team so it makes little sense for us to qualify him at that price. If he does well we'll make him a reasonable offer but if he doesn't accept that non-QO then I have little doubt we let him walk.

Some serious skills. Damn this kid has the tools. Hopefully he finds his toolbox

Having two guys like Anderson and Gurianov, who are big and both have wheels and unafraid to skate their way to the net could be fun. It seems Gurianov has more ability than Anderson in stick handling.

It also shows a trend of players HuGo is targeting, looking to get bigger while also being mobile and/or skilled:

Dach: 6'4" & 212 lbs
Monahan: 6'2" & 196 lbs
Kovacevic: 6'4" & 208 lbs
Slafkovsky: 6'3" & 238 lbs
Heineman: 6' & 196 lbs
Gurianov: 6'3" & 205 lbs

While you have the Caufields and eventually the Farrels and Hutsons, you will have big boys around them. But not the kind of big boys who lumber around, but big bodies who have a good mix of size, mobility, and skill.

If it doesn't work with MSL, Habs can hire Michel Therrien as an associated-coach. He's very good with the young players; look how great he has developed that Crosby kid

Those 6 guys are only there to compensate for Caufield alone. We will need 6 others for Hutson

It's worth seeing what he can bring in a full season. Even if he doesn't produce much till the end of the season we should still give him a shot in a brand new season. Dadonov is old and almost done, Guri is only 25 and fits our core.
Assuming he's willing to sign for much less then his QO then sure. But he's basically a UFA since his QO is undesirable so it's not as simple as us saying give him a chance next year, he will have to want to be here.

Low risk/High reward.
Dadanov I feel like will play well in Dallas. Montreal wasnt his scene and I think most fans knew that.
Gurianov is at the age where "former 1st rounder" shouldnt even be a thing. His offensive potential is high. He has scored 20 in 64 or so games I believe, and had a nice playoff run when Dallas went to the finals. Otherwise has been misused, thats where the potential comes in. He's got sick offensive upside. Nice clapper on the right half wall for PP (lefty). And room to grow.
25 year old given a new opportunity could prove to be a great trade. Low risk if not.
Weber <> Gurianov

What's interesting on the trade deadline is the Kraken are on the fence to miss playoffs. Any knowledgable fan knew they were not a contender, regardless of their hot start.
Sound familiar?
MB would be a buyer at the TDL, pick up a bunch of 4th line depth and 6th D. Maybe make playoffs, probably not. And what do the fans get for their effort? #14oa at the draft table. We spent the better part of a decade screwing ourselves.
And if we dont get a top 5 pick this year, I will call it managerial malpractice. Same for Seattle - what a screw up for them.
