Confirmed with Link: Dadonov (50% retained) to Stars in exchange for Gurianov

Could this kid replace Anderson, and Anderson gets traded to get us a 1st and a prospect?
Watched the video of his goals, he reminds of Anderson, but from the left side....
He probably doesn't hit the way Anderson does...........but still a good gamble.....

Next up.................Mr Look at Da Second Column.

Apparently, the pick offered with retained salary would be a 4th, habs wanted a 3rd. Gurianov was only playing 9 mins a game under Deboer, under Bowness he was a 30point player at ages 22,23,24, so a guy entering his prime. I think he may pop under stlouis and we may get a 40 point guy, which is good for a 3rd line guy.

Reading a bit more about Gurianov, if you sign him and force feed good mins to him, you could flip him at the deadline next year for a better asset…. It’s kinda kicking the can down the road a year with a younger Dandonov

Plus, if HuGo was searching for a pick, in particular a third rounder, I would prefer that thing to be in 25 or 26 so that can be used as trade bait as the team contends.

If he’s making us better, we’ll find out soon enough in the Schedule thread. :sarcasm:

Dallas Stars forum managed 2 pages worth of comments on this trade. Most are happy to see Gurianov gone. Guess they will about him same we feel about Daddy or Drouin.
More like Drouin, since Gurianov is a former 12th oa who haven't really pan out.

Daddy is just near retirement in comparison.

Wait, we did this deal with no retention???

Wow. Hughes continues to impress.

Better roll of the dice than a mid-round pick and frees up a bit more cap room to try to leverage before the deadline.

Gurianov steps into a decimated lineup where he'll get a 20 game audition... If he shows enough to be pencilled in to a vacant top 9 spot next year, his QO makes him a good relatively low cap hit add... If he doesn't, we let him walk.

Kid has size, speed, shot & good offensive IQ... MSL has some raw material to work with!

I like it.

Once Curvy Duck is back from his mysterious LBI him and Gurionov could form a good line. Both have size, Duck is a great playmaker, Gurionov has a wicked shot. Both have size.

Both have size.
That's likely the play.

Intrigued by the trade, especially when you consider what we traded to get Dadonov originally, Weber's contract. The Denis Gurianov of 2019-20 had massive promise, with 20 goals in 64 games of his first near-full season, as well as 9-8-17 in 27 playoff games. Hopefully the DG v1 program is still archived somewhere and his revision control can revert back to that version. In other words, can MSL hack the old password and reload that prime software? :skeptic:
Oh shit I remember him now from the playoffs . That’s highway larceny if you ask me . Big player , having a tough year after scoring 20….lol for dandonov lol who to me had negative value … wow

This gives hope maybe 50% Drouin might return something.

I said it countless times in the Trade Proposals thread, that I feel confident that Dadonov and Drouin, each with 50% retention, would be traded. A number of posters told me neither would have any teams interested in them. We saw Dadonov traded today. I feel like someone will take Jo at 50%.

The return won't be anything to write home about. But I still believe someone will take a flyer on Jo.

Some would question why a team would take Jo for the playoffs. I ask why they wouldn't. Jo has played in 3 playoff runs, two with Tampa and one with Habs in the bubble.

He had 0 pts in 6 games in 2015, but had 14 pts in 17 GP in 2016. He had 7 pts in 10 GP with Habs for a total of 21 pts in 33 playoff games.

While true that Jo has not been able to play full seasons the last 3 regular seasons (one he left for mental health issues and the others he missed due to injury), but when he played, he put up 61 pts in 114 GP, which is a .54 PPG.

Also until proven otherwise, I have just as much hope in the new scouting group than I had in Timmins....which means.....not a whole lot. So I prefer guys like Gurianov to a mid-draft pick.

I thought only the head scout was changed (Timmmins->Bobrov)? The scouting group have done well with late picks lately imo

Nick took Dadonov to airport (E5)

Gurianov has issues maintaining any kind of effort. He's a Rene Bourque type of player. Big, but doesn't always use his size, kind of dumb, has a big shot and that's about it.

We could always trade him 50% retained before TD.

Consider this, as much as Habs fans hate Dadonov, statistically, he's been better than Gurianov.

Could be another Dach type steal , one can only hope ,I don't see any downside to this deal. Anyone out there know this kid's hockey IQ ?

We konw what those guys can do. The project here is not to see how they could evolve. It's to see what Gurianov can do if paired with top end player.
We didn't pick up Gurianov to see if he can be a fringe 4th line player. No time to "earn" his minutes and place, just play him top 6 and see what he does.

Bork was always decent in playoffs though... which is moot point since Habs won't be making them for the a foreseeable future.

Don't expect much. At least we won't have to spoon feed new guy power play time.

Near 3 years ago when it mattered the most Gurianov had 17 pts in 27 playoff games...scored the back breaker goal game winner to send Dallas past Vegas to Cup final.......that to me you can't measure with charts....almost like Dale Wiese try to chart that vs him in playoffs...

...Lets see how he plays under St Louis ..let get to playoffs and see if he shines again
on a much bigger stage .
