Confirmed with Link: Dadonov (50% retained) to Stars in exchange for Gurianov

Not sure what you mean by that. We gain some cap space by swaping Dadonov with Gurianov.

Yeah, a pick would have been cool, but that's the thing. Nobody was likely to give up a pick for him unless we retained 50% (or more with a 3rd team involved thus reducing the return further more) and/or taking on a contract.

The end result, cap space wise, is really basically the same as it would have been otherwise. The only difference is we get a reclamation project with a low chance of turning things around instead of a late-draft pick that has even less chances of becoming something.
we lose 400k and a retention spot

I would have been really happy with a 4th or 5th for Dadonov. I would have been happy still with a 6th or 7th.

I thought we'd more realistically get a bad contract back. I didn't think we'd be able to get a so called bad contract like Gurianov back. Hopefully MSL can find something in him. I think the final 20 games of the season is too small of a sample size though as far as production will be concerned. Whether we retain him may have to be based on seeing how he plays more than the points, imo.
I think we have to retain him and give him a fresh start next season. There's too much potential there to just throw away.

The only thing I really know about him is he was a big part of their Cup Finals run.

Who knows if he's a long term piece but I'm intrigued by his tools.

No risk for a reclamatiom project

Its at a time to that there is no risk to blocking development paths either. Mtl winger prospects likely need AHL. Its a player with some upside, that can fill a roster spot much like many have done this year.

I like the trade a lot. Was a fan of Gurianov in his draft year. Dadonov is infuriating to watch, presented negative value most nights. Gurianov could have untapped potential. No-risk, possible reward trade. Big W.

At this point though, you have NO CHOICE but to give Gurianov to Suzuki. Everything else is moot and irrelevant if you want to assess a guy's play.

That's an interesting take because Anderson, RHP and Suzuki are doing well.

I just don't want RHP and Anderson broken up. I would keep them with Suzuki, but I'm fine with having them play with Dvo or Dach to see what Gurianov can do with Suzuki.

Man, its not a huge win or a huge loss for any team.

Dadonov is better than Gurianov.

There were no 3rd pick out there for Dadonov.

Our management team would rather gamble on Gurianov than a 4th pick kower.

Safe, no-risk bet. There is a potential reward but i would not get my hopes too high
