Confirmed with Link: Dadonov (50% retained) to Stars in exchange for Gurianov

Whatever, more Anderson hate around here its insane how much he gets.
I’m a fan of Anderson. Truly. Guys like him are rare in the NHL and unless it’s a ridiculous return, I’d keep him. Habs adding size and skill is a trend that I like so I don’t think they’ll let Anderson go unless it’s a great package. That being said, with Slafkovsky, Gurianov, Dach, and bigger D, it’s seems to me that Anderson could he traded for the right price to get the coveted third 1st Hughes said he wanted. If they can’t get it for Eddy or Monny, he might move down the list. Just saying the RW position is getting very crowded now so opens ability to trade from a position of strength to address a weakness which Hughes has shown he’s open to.

Reading some stars fans take on Gurianov. They claim his hockey IQ is lacking. We'll see.
It is. Some really seem to hate him more than they should do. I mean, the stats do say a lot. How can a guy shoots and skates like that and can't rack points? It,s 2 things...either he's never put in situations to do so. Either he is unable to use his strengths ,cause his IQ doesn't let him. Gurianov was put in situations to do so...but failed.

Yet again, what if somehow something wakes him up and St-Louis style of play is better for the IQ he has? I doubt it...but the gamble has no risk whatsoever. He isn't attached to another contract year.

Excited. Seems we've been anti Russian players for a while. Team gets younger. Retaining on daddy was going to be required no matter what. This works. Still can retain as a 3rd team trade or send JoDro or other expiring contracts

I'm wasn't at all an Anderson fan. But I think he may have found a home with RHP opposite him, no matter who the center is. Very encouraging.

For those who wonder, there will be no reunion this year as after the west coast trip this week, the only Western conference team the Habs will face is Colorado on March 13. No game left against Dallas (we went 0-2 this season against them)

How could anyone's hockey IQ be worse than Dadanov? He can't stay onside, throws the puck up the middle constantly.. he's one of the worst hockey players I have ever seen in my life.
How is posing a question “hating” on a player? Anderson, Caufield, Gallagher, Ylonen, Gavrikov, Armia. That’s a lot of RWers to deal with. Don’t see them all on the roster next year and the only one with any real value who could be traded is Anderson.

Dadonov wasn't going to be back so any return is a positive.

Stars board not shedding many tears at Gurianov being dealt. The positive there is that his contract is up at the end of the season. So he has ~20 games or so to make an impression. Sounds like he would have been a good candidate to be non tendered by Dallas next summer.

Does Gurionov make Anderson expendable? Very similar style players. Big, fast and inconsistent.
Anderson is a much better player. I like taking a flyer on Gurianov but there's a lot more chance he's the next Armia than the next Nichushkin. This said i like the fact KH consider not acceptable to lose a player for nothing and flip him for a guy that might return something next deadline. I assume we will try to extend Gurianov 1 year and then if he has a good but not great season flip him for a pick next deadline.

Again, remember Nishushkin, and the fact that the Habs will have the cap space to easily qualify him if they think it's the thing to do. The key of this trade lies ahead, and it's to have the proper evaluation on Gurianov. They have 20 games to figure it out. Put him in the best possible situation and see what he can do.

Armia is slow as molasses and Gurianov is as fast as Anderson. Gurianov’s style is more similar to Anderson and they both have good size, speed and shots. I think Gurianov is closer to being Anderson and than he is to being Armia.

My god why would Dallas take our pile of garbage?
Literally.

Not gonna get a chance to use this again so here’s my parting shot to him.

We can sign him for less before we get there. Like Canes did with JK. But i assume if it was possible Stars would not have done this trade ...

Of course it is possible as nobody will pay him almost 3 million next season based on his last two seasons. He may go back to Russia but that would seem rather dumb given the war still raging on.

I think HuGo and MSL get a look at him and if they think that he might pan out then they sell him on buying into Marty's system and taking a pay cut.

I haven't went through the entire thread but I suspect that a major reason for this deal is to clear further cap space to perhaps snag some free picks as a facilitator for other deals whether that be by way of taking an expensive player dump or 3rd party retention. This certainly provides more flexibility approaching the deadline.

Gurianov has a better shot than Armia too. But he's brain dead hockey IQ wise.

Gavrikov? You mean Gurianov.
