Confirmed with Link: Dadonov (50% retained) to Stars in exchange for Gurianov

Gurianiv is somehow a worse player but at least he's younger.
Is he worse? Have you watched him this year? In the past he looked good to me.

I know he probably sucks. But how does someone fall so fast, at such a young age?

Absolute steal. In the right situation Gurianov can be a Josh Anderson clone imo. We acquired Andy after a tough year and now his value is through the roof. We can do the same with Gurianov imo.

As both have been better, I agree completely. The extra year for Hoff might be the issue, but the Jets did trade for El Nino, who has a year left at $4 million. JD's rep likely makes it so that he doesn't move.

I'd take a pick and an expiring contract back for Hoffman. That would be like retention for this year and being free of him going forward.

We're retaining on Dadonov. Not sure without checking if we have a retention slot open in order to retain on JD, which might increase chances of him being moved.
We can retain 2 more. Likely to be between Drouin, Hoffman, Edmundson and Monahan. Of course Hoffman has an extra year, so Hughes probably doesn't want to retain on him.

Decent gamble.

In Gurianov's case, you wonder why a young player pacing at a 35 point pace for three seasons suddenly has a massive drop off, especially when their tools are nhl level.

2.9 m per for a failed 1st rounder...but he is big.
He’s only big if @Habs says he’s big. :sarcasm:

NHL.com has him at 6’3, 205 lbs.

OK, he’s big. And he can put up points:

SCOUTING REPORT
The No. 12 pick in the 2015 NHL Draft has good size, skates well and owns excellent scoring instincts. When he is at his best, he goes to the net with authority and finishes plays well thanks to a quick, accurate shot. His problem continues to be consistency; he can all but disappear offensively for games at a time, and is one of those players who does not help his team a lot when he is not putting points on the board.

Long Range Potential: Talented but inconsistent scoring winger.

There might be have been some personal off-ice things impacting him + getting dropped down the lineup. He took a leave of absence for family reasons last December.

Very surprised we got Gurianov straight up for Daddy. I mean he's been struggling but he's still young and has scored 20 before. Very nice gamble IMO

Thanks. I wouldn't retain on anyone that has a contract beyond this year. We've still got another year of paying Alzner's buyout. I'd rather keep than retain.
