I said it countless times in the Trade Proposals thread, that I feel confident that Dadonov and Drouin, each with 50% retention, would be traded. A number of posters told me neither would have any teams interested in them. We saw Dadonov traded today. I feel like someone will take Jo at 50%.

The return won't be anything to write home about. But I still believe someone will take a flyer on Jo.

Some would question why a team would take Jo for the playoffs. I ask why they wouldn't. Jo has played in 3 playoff runs, two with Tampa and one with Habs in the bubble.

He had 0 pts in 6 games in 2015, but had 14 pts in 17 GP in 2016. He had 7 pts in 10 GP with Habs for a total of 21 pts in 33 playoff games.

While true that Jo has not been able to play full seasons the last 3 regular seasons (one he left for mental health issues and the others he missed due to injury), but when he played, he put up 61 pts in 114 GP, which is a .54 PPG.
I agree with our insider on this. Joe is worth something at half price to someone but won’t be much. Hopefully he can restart his career somewhere else

Near 3 years ago when it mattered the most Gurianov had 17 pts in 27 playoff games...scored the back breaker goal game winner to send Dallas past Vegas to Cup final.......that to me you can't measure with charts....almost like Dale Wiese try to chart that vs him in playoffs...

...Lets see how he plays under St Louis ..let get to playoffs and see if he shines again
on a much bigger stage .
The bigger stage he might be shining on, might just be next year’s trading deadline. :sarcasm:

Let Marty work on maximizing his output and we might just see an interesting return.

This is the time of year a GM should be looking for durable player where the significant moves are for the purposes of the marathon that is the playoffs.

Drouin is definitely not that. Maybe a team gives him a shot, but he definitely won't be looked at as a significant addition by any team, so the return will reflect that (and that's best case scenario).

IMO, Drouin seems like the type of entity that fits the offseason more than the trade deadline with respect to a potential move.

Could be another Dach type steal , one can only hope ,I don't see any downside to this deal. Anyone out there know this kid's hockey IQ ?
Exactly zero downside . Dandonov had no value and we got a player that had proven he can score in this league . Now let’s see if msl and team can make him develop. I think they can

Nothing to lose with this trade. We all wanted Dadonov out of this team since Game One of the season. Gurianov has regressed and , according to Stars' fans, has no hockey IQ at all and was the Stars' worst player. At worst, Gurianov won't be kept like Dadonov would had not if he had stayed. At best, he becomes a usable bottom six with some scoring power.

Dadonov came alive (a bit) in the last 20 games or so, possibly knowing that Habs would trade him before or at deadline.

Gurianov has issues maintaining any kind of effort. He's a Rene Bourque type of player. Big, but doesn't always use his size, kind of dumb, has a big shot and that's about it.

We could always trade him 50% retained before TD.

Consider this, as much as Habs fans hate Dadonov, statistically, he's been better than Gurianov.
I’d sign him if he plays well with bigger mins, and potentially flip him next deadline for something more. Famous last words, but, he can’t be worse than he was in Dallas this year getting 9 mins a night. Force feed him good mins with Dach, and see what he can produce

I am sorry but am I the only one not excited about this trade? At that point just keep Dadonov, I watched some Dallas games and Gurianov is completely inexistant. I get that he is younger but I really doubt he will find his game here. I hope they don’t qualify him this summer.

I am not excited. I was just excited there was A trade and there was something to shoot shit about for a bit. The novelty has worn off.

Gurianov is interesting though

Why the sudden change. 3 solid yrs under Bowness, then off a cliff with a new coach.

Think its a great gamble
.
Gurianov's sudden decline is a bit of a mystery. Maybe the coaching change had a lot to do with it. But there's something else that hasn't been brought up here which may go a long way to explaining his present state.

Gurianov missed a substantial number of games this season for person reasons. I don't know what the nature of the problem is but it seems to me that it could easily explain why Gurainov's head no longer seems to be in the game.

If DG is given the time and support he needs to turn the corner, the Habs might be able to get him back on track.

I'm thinking he's here to help the tank because I see no value in that guy.
