Lol. Reinbacher may be eligible to play AHL but Montreal still can't send him there without offering him to Kloten first. He's under contract in Kloten. Again, it would be a dumb transfer agreement if NHL teams could sign Europeans out of already existing contracts just to fill the rosters of their farmteams. I shouldn't have to explain you that. It's common sense.

the PTA says non 1st round picks have to be offered back to the team they were under contract with before their NHL team signed them.

Cool bro. I was talking about the TSN rankings which the previous poster seemed to think held weight.

Your post doesn’t add to that conversation, but I’m glad you’ve made up your mind on a 19YO prospect.
it holds some weight. you just dont agree with it, but I'm sure others do. All Im saying is that Reinbacher is most likely not the best defenseman of that draft. the first D man selected is rarely the most valuable if you look back. Forwards on the other hand are more predictable.

This the combined table of all relevant scouting groups:
Draft spreadsheet

Reinbacher in the end finished 10th. One spot ahead of Pellikka. He was nowhere close to 5th spot.
Thing is, Pellikka is progressing big time and scoring goals in a much tougher league, while Reinbacher is struggling, making terrible mistakes and getting one tiny point in his 7 games.
If Reinbacher was in this type of form last year, he would have ended in 2nd round for sure.

Somehow I feel the jackpot winners of this draft will be Flyers and Sabres. Flyers got a free gift called Michkov, Sabres got Benson out of nowhere cause of some 5-6 blind GMs.
Scouting services combined rankings are meaningless since the disparity between those rankings and the real NHL organizations ones is alot of times too signifiant. For example, Shane Wright was a consensus 1st OV on all those lists, outside maybe HockeyProspect who had him 2nd after Slaf and recrutes who had him 3rd or 4th.. All the other ones couldnt foresee what actually happened on draft day. Flyers were apparently not going to pick Wright either. Another exemple is Zach Benson who ended up falling at 13th OV. As talented as he is and how big his heart is, he remains an undersized player with average skating. I could go on with other exemples, but when comes time to build a hockey team, GMs tend to value some elements higher than the average scouting services would do.

As for Reinbacher, do you really believe the yotes pass on him at 6th OV last draft?

There were alot of rumors that Hughes had alot of calls from teams trying to move up to grab him.

Kid's situation is pretty similar to the one of Jiricek in his draft year who got his knee badly injured midway through the season, missed 3-4 months of action and came back for the WC where he wasnt the shadow of himself and barely played. Jiricek took alot of time to get back at the level he was.

Reinbacher played the last part of his draft year with some knees pain, what could be attributed to a late spurt growth, then got one of his knees banged up for a while after that Sandin hit at the WC. Then another knee injury early this season. Kid hasnt been lucky and coming back at the level he was will require time. I find it rather funny that you and some others judge him so severely for some mistakes he usually doesnt do when fully healthy.

Personally Im not worried at all, I had Jiricek at the top of my list with Slaf in his draft year and had Reinbacher 5th OV on my last list in a strong fowards draft. Both are going to be studs on the back end, its only a matter of time.

it holds some weight. you just dont agree with it, but I'm sure others do. All Im saying is that Reinbacher is most likely not the best defenseman of that draft. the first D man selected is rarely the most valuable if you look back. Forwards on the other hand are more predictable.
It all depends of what you value the most, a Pietrangelo like defenseman used in all situations or an offensive minded defenseman and PP specialist like Quinn Hughes? One will get more pts, the other make you win a Stanley cup.

This choice of Reinbacher to the detriment of Michkov is already turning into a nightmare. Michkov is well ahead this season. And on Slafkovsky's side, the trend is the same. Montreal may have missed out on 2 NHL stars for 2 interchangeable players.

He has 2 pts. And the talk about him being selected lower if he had worse season last year, I mean, isnt that true for any prospect?

Fact is, he has shown a fantastic level of play last year both with Kloten and with Austria. You think he peaked at 18?
Kid definetly had a great season 2022/23. Came out of nowhere from Swiss 2nd league and had a great season in NL and Austria NT.
But let's not close out eyes and say he is not struggling in this season. Injury, nonchalance in plays leading to opponent goals, mistakes..
But like I said, kid is just anchored down by the bad form of his team. I'd gladly have him in AHL, but it is what it is.

You mean the NHL star unable to crack a KHL lineup? Or which one?

Last time I checked, the guy plays in KHL and has 24 pts in 26 KHL games.
...after being unable to crack a KHL team that is...a team not even close from an NHL team. I don't know if you wanna draft a guy that only works out in certain situations, for certain teams. And I haven't even mentioned that the KHL isn't even close from what it was pre war.

But it's a stupid discussion anyway. The player we're talking about was on Montreal's no draft list. They wouldn't have selected him pretty much no matter what...the same goes for many NHL teams... because of him being unwilling to even talk to those teams.

He actually cracked the SKA lineup in this season. What are you talking about? He was sent on loan just like last season.
However weaker KHL is now in comparision with 2020/21 it's still miles ahead of NL.
Where to you think Kloten would play in Russia? VHL..and probably bottom.

He was a regular healthy scratch.

Kloten maybe but not Kloten's competition except for Ajoie that's even worse. I doubt the KHL is still better than SHL or NL. Pre war no doubt about it. As we speak, it would surprise me if it still was the case.

Let's get serious, please.
NL is a good league in Europe but it's a league class below KHL, even now even without KHL having top quality imports like they used to have.

Kloten is in terms of roster at the same level as Admiral or Lada. Make conclusions

I remember whaq happened when a previous management devalued McDonagh after his D+1 season was not eye-catching.

Is it now?
Kloten better than the thrid team in East division of KHL?
What's next? Kloten would play for the title in KHL?
3 best scorers on Lada are Safin, Josephs and Kosmachuk, so an average extraliga player, bottom half NL canadian and a Liiga slightly over 0,5 ppg guy.

So yes, it's exactly what I am saying, by their roster it is a very weak team of no namers, but they are 3rd in the East somehow. Admiral has same quality roster and is at the bottom

So what? What makes you think Lada's roster is weaker then Kloten based on 3 scoring players?
And lol at calling russian hockey players no namers. So Russian players in KHL teams are no namers while Swiss players in NL teams are the real deal?
What's the reason of calling Russians no namers? To prove that Michkov is getting point in a league playing against no namers?

A lot of hostility against players of Russian and Belarusian nationality among this Internet user. Don't try to argue with him. It's an obsession with him.

Nah. I think the only reason people here are bashing KHL is to prove that Michkov is amassing points in a legaue of no namers.
KHL always had a great influx of youngsters form MHL. Also, Russian youngsters were always top tier world class in WJC. 9 medals from 2011 to 2020. Only once they didn't end in first 3 spots.
Then those kids start in KHL and they're called no namers.
And then suddenly HNL draft comes and you see 20-30 Russian no namers drafted and 1-2 Swiss players.

Yet you would probably agree that Moser is better than any of the Russian defensemen in the recent years?

Regardless, being an Oct birthday and a top 5 pick having a meh start to his D+1 isn't fun. Hopefully he can get back to being healthy and playing well.

Yes. That's the reasoning !
I'm gonna point out one player and then I'm gonna deduce something from that one player.
Moser is most likely the better defender that any Russian of his age but that doesn't mean that overall quality of Russian players in that age isn't vastly superior. Russians wiped the floor with Moser's generation at WJC.
And then those players start to play in KHL being labeled "no namers".
At the same time you have Swiss league dominated by 33-40 yrs old imports in their last attempt to earn some money before retirement. Most of those discarded from KHL cause deemed becoming to old for the league's pace.

No. I was talking about this user in particular, not a generality. During a topic on Belarusians, Artyom Levshunov also suffered the same denigration. However, Levshunov also plays in North America.
