Same reason Washington didn't trade the farm to grab this generational talent. Why would Philly offer something to trade up knowing that Michkov is on other team's no trade list? Doesn't make sense.
Which is of course
?

I mean he proved he could be a player versus men , in that sense he is more proven. Leonard still havent played in the NCAA , hes probably going to do good there but the conversion rate is not 100%.Quicker than Michkov yes but quicker than Leonard?
Someday we’ll know about the offers from the reported 5 teams who wanted to trade up. Knowing what we know now on the « love fest« between Philly and Michkov, pretty sure Briere offered something to move up.
Nsh looked serious, probably Washington.
Draft class of 22 was a strange one and its way too early to dismiss Slaf.Anyone who legitimately believes that this future 4/5 defensemen has top pairing upside, beguiled by a late riser's physical tools, is out to lunch. He oozes bust potential.
And that's a purely nightmarish reason for serious alarm.
Betting on a late riser gets you Slafkovsky.
What makes you think he's a bust? I don't see anything in his game that would suggest thatAnyone who legitimately believes that this future 4/5 defensemen has top pairing upside, beguiled by a late riser's physical tools, is out to lunch. He oozes bust potential.

Where do you see that? Obviously most fans wanted Michkov, now that the dusts settled and the outcomes what it is, everyone has done more research and is opting to be more optimistic. Personally, after doing more research I’m happy with Reinbacher as a consolation prize to not getting Michkov. On Habs’ board pre-draft they made a poll: What you want the Habs to do with the pick?
57% Get Michkov
1.1% Get Reinbacher
Same home board, mock draft: 4 Michkov, 5 Smith, … 9 Reinbacher.
and now all those posters claim they are that 1.1%…
Ok more time to do research a couple of days after the draft vs little time months before draft.Where do you see that? You're right. Hughes should have said he's a definite future HOF'er. Everyone knows that Lane Hutson is going to run the PP in a couple of years so there's no reason for Hughes to pretend that Reinbacher is, that's not what he was drafted for. I would have taken a swing on Michkov depsite the red flags-the biggest one that he's a crappy teammate- but there's nothing wrong with drafting someone at 5 that you project as a top pairing right D. Nothing.Oof why on earth would he come out and say that publicly right now even if its what he believes privately. Its like he's pouring more gasoline into the fire given the huge backlash they've been getting from the fanbase. That's just terrible PR management.
He's not a reach. I would have taken Michkov too but drafting a player at 5 who was pretty much consensus top 10-12 at WORST, is not a reach. Shane Malloy explained this whole "reach" nonsense in the top tier of the first round on NHL Network Radio right after the draft. Pretty much no one taken 5-15, who's ranked in that range to begin with, as DR was, is a reach.8th on Bob’s list. 9th on Elite prospects.
None of the 16 lists posted on Elite prospects had him earlier than 8th. More than half had him 10 and lower.
thats a lot of ignorant people…
Michkov was lower than 5 on zero list.
So David is a reach. Could be a good reach. Could be a bad reach.

I voted Leonard but would have also taken Benson, Dvorsky and Michkov ahead of Reinbacher and will stand by itWhat are you talking about. Most Habs fans are saying he's our guy now so we'll support him.
I'm one of the few Reinbacher fans and there is apost from me back in like february saying if we draft 5th/6th in this thread id like us to take Reinbacher. Im am definitely a minority in Habs land. (Btw I voted Smith in that poll but he wasnt avaialable).
Yeah thats why i wrote pre-draft...What are you talking about. Most Habs fans are saying he's our guy now so we'll support him.

What aspect of he's going to be a 4-5 defenseman because "he was a late riser who has no discernable high-end skill and limited offensive ability" and was, according to the organization, drafted because of his potential to "fit within the culture" of the team - as asinine a reason as drafting Slafkovsky because "he's big" or another player "has character" - doesn't make sense? He's just mad, he's not making any sense.
Interesting post. Not totally disagreeing with you. He's not a reach. I would have taken Michkov too but drafting a player at 5 who was pretty much consensus top 10-12 at WORST, is not a reach. Maybe the 5-15 tier is a little « wide » for me bc kept reading 5 was last pick of tier 1.
Drafting consensus 15th player with 5th pick i would call it a reach. Not what happened, he wasnt 15, more like 10th.
Man I hope I am wrong but I just think this pick is bad.....
I'm not happy about the pick, but you better bet I'll cheer for him and support him. I want my teams to be successful and if that means making a single decision I may not like, so be it. I'm no expert. I hope he smashes my expectations. His instagram is like 99% positive loving comments. Seriously go look. Anyone criticizing him is getting shouted down.
Social media is by nature toxic, but we also do this selection bias thing. He's getting a ton of love from Habs fans at large.
I'd assume given your repeated misspellings, that you have it auto-correcting on your phone. That kind of suggests you've typed it... A lot. So maybe they're not off base here?I posted less than 5 messages in that thread, responding to someone who talked about him. How am I obsessed with Ghule ?

Safe to assume you're overreacting here.Stop assuming things that you don't know, I made two/three messages about Guhle, get over it and it was not the autocorrecting.
Here's Reinbacher in the SO today, it's the next one after 1:05
