Who has rubbed you the wrong way? I haven't heard of any character issues among those at the top of that draft.

Edit: misread, that's probably not what you meant
Haha not saying the other guys are pricks or anything. Something just immediately struck a chord with me when I first watched Cale play.

Those two Avs fans who wrote into the Bobcast to complain about Makar playing in the playoffs should be ashamed.

It's crazy how quickly Makar is adapting in the NHL.

Stat line in his 3rd game: 1st period - leads the Avs TOI, 1 assist, +2.
Lack of a reason to play the big guns in the third period probably boosted the TOI total, admittedly

Other way around. He was leading through 2 periods. They rested him a little in the third and he ended up 4th among D in TOI. Makar was one of the big guns they had little reason to play.

Makar was Colorado's best defensemen in games 4 and 5 which were games 2 and 3 in his career. That says a lot when Barrie and Zadorov have looked as good as they have.

I get it's impressive but I don't think anyone who has followed Makar should be surprised. I wasn't worried about how he was going to perform as his IQ, skating and skill are his best attributes. Rookie mistakes will happen (and a couple of bobbles did), but like he did with Canada at the WJC, he just constantly makes smart plays and creates offense with his skill.
Probably not but I would say I'm more surprised at how quickly he's become comfortable and that it's during pressure time.

Even if the Avs bow out here shortly to the Sharks (fairly likely IMO), I think this short taste of NHL at the highest level will serve Makar tremendously well over the summer . He will he used to the timing and physicality and have a good amount of video footage to go over areas and situations which he simply needs more experience to improve in.

He will technically be a rookie next year but he’ll have the experience more akin to a guy who has already played in the most high leverage NHL situations. The one thing he will still have to adjust to is simply the length and grind of a full NHL season. But I expect him to hit the ice even more impressively in the fall.

I'll have to say, I might need to retract on waiting for him to play his next season, he's looked ridiculously good recently. I totally didn't expect him to be able to make such plays as he's able to, with no time at all, during NHL playoffs. Some of his passes remind me of prime Karlsson. It's also quite different from what I felt when I saw Casey Mittelstadt have a strong end to his season. Makar looks ridiculously aware. You see this sort of stuff very rarely, recently it's just been Elias Pettersson, to be honest. And these two might be the best 2 players of the draft.
6 points in his first 9 games. 4 of those 6 are points on game winning goals.

I know the sample size is small but that’s a 55 point pace per 82 games. And he’s doing this in the playoffs.
With the actual points, sample size comes into play. But with his play, it doesn't... He could easily have more points.

6th game in the NHL, and coach has him on the ice for a sudden death overtime that could make or break their season. This guy is going to be special.

I expected Cale to blow me away with his play...but he's even surpassed those lofty expectations.
He is quite something isn't he?

First time I ever got to see him play was at the WJC and I was like..."whoah!! does this kid ever have skills!!"

And he's gotten a lot better since then, looks to be a real gem.

As an Finnish Avs fan this draft really has been something else. Makar and Heiskanen looking like they will be the top contenders with Dahlin for the Norris for years to come!
