D Cale Makar (2017, 4th, COL) Part 2

Makar reminds me of a young Sergei Gonchar. And he's probably already better in his own end.

Minus the game against the Yotes where he was amazing so far he hasn't looked like the playoffs Makar we've seen. I just wish he would shot more on the PP of course it doesn't help his confidence when Mack is slamming his stick on the ice because Makar decided to shoot the puck and is blocked but that's learning process for him. I hated that reaction coming from Mack I know he's very competitive and all but that's not helping coming one of our leaders. On the rush he's incredibly fast and could probably try something more but sadly he brakes and pass the puck. I know he is young and he will learn but boy does this kid have untapped potential.

He definitely needs to shoot more. His first two shots on goal of the season were his 2 assists against Arizona. And in 5 games so far, that's his only game with a shot on goal.

From what I've seen so far this season it looks like he's overthinking and not playing with his instinct.

I think it stems from the fact that, especially on the PP, he has Mack on his Left and Mikko on his Right. Two of the best players in the league.

It's hard as a 20 year old rookie to have the confidence to shoot the puck in that position know who you're setting up if you pass it off.

Once he gets the confidence to just take those shots himself, the shots will increase dramatically and his goals will as well.
