I honestly don't like Reichel. As a young player, he had perhaps the greatest patronage I experienced in our corrupt environment, a completely average player..

To Vladař.. Markstrom is not catching as well as last year, the fans are asking what is going on with him.. Vladař will get another chance after a long time and he is catching excellently, the coach praises him and says that he will catch more than last season. Meanwhile, Markstrom catches I think the next five games in a row.. I don't understand.

Kristian (and Lauko) tossed my son and I puxks at a world Junior game so I like him lol.

Sutter said once a week for Vladar and then it's markstrom, markstrom markstrom.lol. Markstrom got shelled on playoff so I was hoping for a 50 to 30 split and then run markstrom so he's fresher. Sutter does not agree with me.lol

Hajek, budik and felt were drafted for 1998 born. Ouch. How can, arguably, the greatest year in Czech hockey (Nagano) have produced so little talent?lol. Neat that Robert Reichel scored the goal and had Kristian a few months later.

I'm starting to think felt and budik won't become NHL players.

On the once very active page - zacha hockey, an awful lot was written about it. Yes, 98 was extremely weak in every way. Who knows how the selection would have turned out if they hadn't nominated Zadina for the U18 at the last minute, who was then the best player of the year 99 (oh yeah..) and was by far the best player there, scoring 5 goals..

To be honest.. I thought the Flames were doing really well and so was Markstrom. I was wrong.. Flames aren't in a playoff position and Markstrom is below .900.

They are almost identical. Looks like the problem might be more than goaltending for the Flames (I'm an Oil fan so keep losing!).

I'm surprised too. But I think that in the last game that Vladař caught, he caught very well and his team won. He received praise, the coach said that he would catch more than last year.. And even in the previous games, I thought that he caught well, maybe except for one..

I'd kill to see this team. I'm also aware this team would not be a threat to win a tourney. I always say our best on best roster could win a Skoda Cup and I think this roster could do that. The D is just not enough. Forward core is very nice though... deep at C, good wingers and a superstar.

Vanecek is an established starter that is good... a 7 out of 10. Vejmelka is below that but is good at playing on a weak team with pourous D so he would be at home on our roster. I just cannot shake the image of a guy like McDavid looking across the ice at our D and being very happy.lol

We've got a few down there... all were considereed good at some point... Pekar, Has and Kubicek. Safin spent time in the ECHL last year as well. We also had a guy in the ECHL becuase he was banned for cocaine use.lol

Pekar had a couple games in Rochester but they probably want him to play every night and with the number of wingers in Rochester, that isn't going to happen. And it doesn't help that he had to have both shoulders rebuilt. I don't think he'll be tendered by Buffalo this summer.

Unlike Pekar.. he's heating up.. had a lull but seems to be doing just fine now. Agree Pekar will end up in Europe as a classic Czech 'hybrid'... no longer a Euro style player and not effective as a NHL style player. Obviously awful luck with injuries too!

I've thought they will let him go to the Czech team (and Rosen to the Swedes) for a while now. But of late... I'm not as sure. They have some injuries and are not doing anything to find replacements at the AHL level IMO. I think they will, but I've gone from it being a slam dunk, 100% probability to something a bit less.

I figured 10 games is what a Starter would be at by now so I did a 10 game minimum search... we got 2 goalies in the top 10! Vanecek is actually second in the league for GAA.

Thought I'd revist Vladar getting limited minutes... one stat is Markstrom and Vladar is the other. I'm not saying he's better than Markstrom or should be the starter but I do think he's earned some starts kind of like how Skinner is currently playing more than Campbell in Edmonton.

Yes, I have a Vladar bias and I do think he's every bit as good as Vanecek and Vejmelka but just not getting the starts.

Our 6 Goalies (so far)... 4 above .910 is great. Hoping Rittich and Mrazek can get there but I saw Chicago play last night and don't like Mrazek's chances.lol

It's not always sunshine as a Czech fan. In fact, it almost never is... so here is some!



He has now passed Kubalik and we now have 6 Czechs in .ppg territory after a quarter season... Hertl, Kubalik, Necas, Pastrnak and Kreji.

Hronek is now top 10 amongst D with a very healthy plus/minus and 22 minutes a night

Vanecek is on fire

So we currently have a top 5 scorer, top 10 D scorer and a top 5 goalie and I doubt that has happened in a decade. And, at 22 games, it's not even 'small sample size'. Will it last? Unlikely.

Even better.. we are missing 2 very good forwards - Vrana and Palat. Zacha and Chytil are working on career years.

On a funny to me sidenote.. Sedlak got waived and is now getting good minutes and points. Did not see that coming.

Lots of problems in Czech hockey but I'll enjoy this for a hot minute!

My early Xmas wishlist - would like to see Zohorna, Rousek, Galvas, Dostal, Lauko and Teply get a call! I would say Kral as he had a glorious opportunity to get more NHL minutes but he's hurt.
