But whats up with Palat ? Anyone watching NJD games closely? I mean 1point from last 12 games, thats bad. And overall 43/20 Is not exactly what you expect from someone hitting 6m salary.

On the bright side Kaut really started great in SJS, in 9games he Is only one point short to tie his points in his whole before trade NHL career lol.

According to the highlights, he created two scoring chances against Rangers. The team is doing well and he's not there just for points. I think they are satisfied, as I read the discussion about two or three weeks ago, he probably plays better than how many points he has.

Palat has been pretty much relegated to the 3rd line role, playing 12-15 minutes per night with very little PP time (over the last two weeks, 8 games, less than a minute on average). At this point, he is obviously in the midst of a cold streak and the team itself is really struggling but unless his usage changes and with him aging, being bothered by injuries, I think it's reasonable to expect him to be a 0,5 PPG player during the regular season.

Most of his points have always come from complimenting the more offensively skilled players really well. He either needs to find the kind of chemistry he had with Kucherov-Point/Johnson with someone on the Devils or he is legitimately a defensively responsible veteran 3rd line forward in which case 0,5 PPG is probably what one would expect. Health is probably also going to be very important going forward.

Kaut meanwhile, definitely seems to be buying himself another year in the NHL. Reminds me a lot like the Sharks resurrected Barabanov's career, he also had 1 career point before moving there.

Before the win last night Devils actually had 2 wins and 6 losses in the last 8. So the narrative should be more like the team is struggling, and he is struggling with it. And by extension, everyone on it probably are better players than they have shown recently.

I watched the third and Kaut was really a big part of the SJ attack. Him and Hertl are noticeable. He plays important minutes and gets regular shifts. I think he might eke out a 1 year contract here! Commentators were very high on him last night.

Can't say I know much about him

Was only a matter of time before he got signed. Limited upside, but I think he will make it fulltime eventually. I liked him back in 2020 at the WJC and have read only positives regarding him since then.

Can you give me an idea about his game? From what I saw in the tweets he is a Defensive specialist/PK/faceoff type guy? The tweeters seemed to love him! Something like what Faksa became?

Yes, strong on faceoffs, reliable defensively, plays with good pace and is effective forchecker. I don't think he will reach Faksa's defensive prowess, but is probably better suited for today's faster style of hockey. I think he might even have an outside chance to grab an NHL spot the very next season.

Granted, the WJC was the last time I have seen him play, aside from a couple highlights, so take it with grain of salt. But reports on Twitter seem to confirm that's the type of player he is.

I honestly didn't think he'd be even considered. Wonder if he gets a game? Someone hurt? Resting stars?

Busy day!

I am VERY HIGH on Dobes! Still pissed he wasn't on the U20 roster a couple of tourneys ago.

Primeau needs waivers next season, so it's very likely Dobes will be a 1B type next season with Laval. I hope they don't go Primeau and Dobes, but you never know.

Wouldn't be surprised if the habs deal him (Primeau) if they can't deal Allen, which is likely.

Is Laval expected to be good next season? I figure he'll bounce around between ECHL and AHL for 2 years. I do think he eventually gets himself to the NHL around 25 though. Hope so at least.

Depends what they do, but it's very likely add
Joshua Roy
Riley Kidney
Sean Farrell
Logan Mailloux
Emil Heineman

Just on the prospect end. I'm sure 1, or 2 might make the Habs. Habs could change their stance on Mesar and send him there.

Habs still might sign Luke Tuch, though he's definitely a step below the others.

Have to imagine the Habs bring back Belzile and hopefully Richard. Pitlick might be there.

Should be a good team, as long as Montreal and Laval aren't devastated by injuries again.

Seriously.. what a busy day for Czech people. I'm a huge fan of klapka. I do think he will eventually make the NHL and maybe get 100 games before returning to Europe. Bottom 6 one day.

I'd like to say I think Calgary will call him up but they had noniae for zohorna and he's a better player.

Any word if Jiri Smejkal is on any NHL teams' radar for next season?
The rumour is that he is according to Czech media. I have no doubt he has contract offers but I dont know if he has any 1 way co tract offers or offers that are 2 way but would pay him well in AHL like frk, sustr or knot. I think they all are close to 500k in AHL... Without Googling so I may be wrong. I'm sure seeing fellow NT member blumel in AHL all season is concerning. He's older so signing a 2 way where he makes 70k in AHL would be risky IMO. Also he projects as a NHL bottom 6er. I hope he makes it over but Sedlak came and went fast! Not sure if he's willing to be an AHLer for a full season.
