I sincerely hope that someone like Hradec doesn't even come close to being nominated.. Unreal wood..

Strange. I always liked him. Already tried out for the Extraliga, along with 2024 eligible players like Galvas and Jiříček.
Named as the best player since today's match against Germany (2 goals).

I remember him from one tournament and there very badly. His pucks bounced, he didn't come up with anything going forward. I didn't see it yesterday, I won't see it today either (Třinec), of course I will only be happy if he joins the expected leaders of the team.

He's been awesome! If Badinka and Galvas are anywhere near his quality then we could have a hell of a U20 team in 2 years.

I am so pissed at the refs man, they completely butchered the game, we could have at least point, cause Swedes wouldn score if the hadnt got that 5/3 pp

I was livid.lol I don't know if it was Petr or ref so I'll be mad at both.lol

Bright side.. we are defending really well. Our PK is sharp.

Slovakia got 2 on us plus shootout goals
Germany got 1
Sweden got 1 plus an empty netter

Hrabal has only been beat during the game 4 times and one was a 5 on 3 and a perfect shot.

So our D can defenend and Jiricek is getting more and more confident.

Let's see how Canada goes. Day off, clear our heads.

No matter what Petr said, if the refs wanted to punish him, they should have just sent him off the bench or something. Instead they punish the players (in a children tournament no less) who were busting their ass against a superior opponent and did literally nothing to deserve a long 5 on 3 PK. Just a clown show from the refs who had to make their mark on the game.

Absolutely stupid behavior by our coach 😤
but one second changed everything, instead of our power play we got 2 minor penalties 😂
Here is the rule (Zaruba and Petr were talking about, they were right of course):

Yeah. it was a questionable dismissal and a two-man advantage, but when the Czech Republic gets a goal in the 48th minute, they still have ten minutes to score. And Sweden never worried about their minimal lead, they didn't let the Czechs have chances.

Cruel for the Czech team, the match should have gone to OT.

I would repeat myself again. The coach is an idiot.
I agree he is an idiot, but I am on his side in this matter. I am so sick of arrogant referees being always "untouchable" even it they make absolutelly terrible and wrong call. You cant even criticize them for it after the game, cause you get punished even more with some stupid fines or even stops for the players.

I dont understand why if ref f*** up you cant say to media after the game, that he is a piece of shit a f***ed up the game lol. (not related to the game, I just never understood this)

If we have coach challenge for goals, why also not for questionable penalties? Of course with some restrictions like "you can use it only once per game, even if you are succesfull, and if not then you get 2mins for delaying the game" or something like that. But if you think that ref call was wrong, and the penalty could be a decider, you should be able to ask for a review.

It was the same in ELH playoffs this year. So many unaswered and wrong calls from the refs, lot of times in very tight spots of the match (OT, even game at the end etc.) It hurts the game.

I see what you mean and agree that this whole setup towards referees is wrong. But.. On the other hand, the coach knows very well that there is a penalty for delay and he must be aware that he must not allow this. Even though the exclusion was apparently not right, he must eventually taste such injustice. He de facto lost the match. There is no other way to term it.

So this was not a good tournament. Shame we go with two beatings in a row, but what can be done.

Dont know if it was at least a bit better if we got Badinka, Galvas, Port, Sprynar and Hes in the team. Maybe, maybe not. But this years team was not very good lets face it.

We need to get rid of Petr and find some proper coach. (its hard though, not many names to choose from) That must be the foundation upon we build the team for next year.

On the positive note I think that Sale,Dvorak and Hrabal performances on the tournament shouldnt hurt their draft rankings. All played good, Hrabal (besides today) was great and maybe can climb some spots. Dvorak showed he is ready after the injury and could be a very good defender one day (dont know if he can make 2nd round, but 3rd is certain I am confident).

Another positive thing is, that I believe and think, that we can field a better team next year. Jiricek and Galvas should be a solid ground to build on in the D (real shame Badinka wont be eligible anymore). And in attack there hopefully will be Benak and Jecho, surrounded with some interesting prospects like O.Kos, Titlbach, L.Kral or maybe even D.Pavlik (as another underager)

Hoping for better performance next year.

Our scoring leaders after round robin. Sale with a goal per game is nice. But he has 1 assist and I don't think that is because he can't pass. Dvorak has been great. So has hrabal.

Big disappointments for me are Petr as I had hoped for more goals. Stancl with no points. Our D with almost no points as a group.

US are going to love us!

Today Petr is making an excuse on hokej.cz that even the referees admitted to him before today's match that in the match against Sweden we should have played a power play and not a weak one. Well, that's quite possibly true, but it doesn't change the fact that in the end it was he who, with his decision, sent the team to three and lost the game. Sometimes (and quite often in hockey) you have to try such an injustice and keep playing. He couldn't do it and I'm sure that contributed to how the game against Canada turned out.
And one more reminder. He took the place of Galvas Skok in the team. Probably because he considered Galvas to be physically unprepared. So he took the insufficiently physically prepared Skok, who was obviously not good enough in terms of play and strength and played a few minutes in each match.

I'm starting to think you are not a fan of his...

One of my biggest takeaways as an outsider is that by playing Petr, Felcman, Stancl down the middle, Petr is slowing down his good skaters.

A Petr, Felcman, Stancl line would be very difficult to defend against (similar to Latvia when they get the puck down low), whereas matching up Sale with two guys who can skate would allow them to push the tempo more (though it does decrease their ability to defend)

Only one thing I want from todays match. That we dont get completelly trashed and can at least somehow hold off the US. (lose by max 4 goals or something like that). We likely gonna get double digits defeat sadly. But if we can hold them off a bit and lose with respectable result, we can be at least a bit content.

Just try and play a good match today and dont get completely embarassed please!

Badinka and Sprynar could have been the difference in the game against Slovakia, which would have made for a very different QF. At least they didn't get blown out even though it was a nonstop defense.

Anyway, shit tournament, classic one win against the worst team of the group and then loss after loss. Hrabal was outstanding though, should be no question who the best goaltender at the draft is now, though I am not sure if it's enough for the 1st round.

My optimism about this one may have been a bit off.lol

We lost to US, Canada, Sweden and Slovakia. On one hand, 3 of those are likely the 3 medalists (not counting Finland out but those, to my eye, are the 3 best teams this year) and we'll see if Slovakia makes final 4 (hope so). It was definitely a very tough draw. We came up short.

Not much to takeaway in the positive.. Petr was fine in the end, I thought Sale looked great and very lonely out there, Dvorak was good, Jiricek was great and Hrabal was very good.

I do consider Hrabal a project though.. he's not a finished product and still needs to grow into himself a bit. A lot of goals went through him (which could also be fatigue from standing on your head for 5 straight games). I think he goes in round 2.

Him and Sale were our MVP's by far.

This ends our beautiful quarterfinal streak which is a shame. I was enjoying winning quarters.. I think it was 6 in a row including our ladies. Nice bounce back after Olympics!

I'm fine with no more Petr but I don't think another coach would've got that much more out of this group. TSN was pretty harsh on Petr too!

Vochfest was an interesting third choice but I didn't really have a third choice anyways.

Also, since I"m on it, watching my team defend for 2 full periods against Sweden and US is not fun at all. Doesn't feel like hockey and I'm almost feel dirty if we did win those games.lol

our big success this tournament were 'only losing by 3' to the US and 'being tied with Sweden after 50 minutes'. That's rough.lol If we were going to lose anyways, a more open and risky game would've at least been more fun to watch.
