Not a bad line up in my eyes. Although I wouldn’t trust me because I haven’t watched enough this past year.

Happy to see all the discussion and some new faces adding input.

I think if Šale, Šapo, Kulich are all good to go, that line could do some real damage.

Really intrigued to see Hrabal in net considering he was a 1st round hopeful last draft. Haven’t seen him play at all.

Shame about Dvorak but the positive would be that a younger player gets a big opportunity ie. Jiricek, Galvas…
Czechs are set up to be really good next year (when it’s here in Ottawa!) and if those 2 guys get enough playing time, that will really bode well for them going forward.

Jecho! Also shame. But he will replace Šapo next year. Hopefully he heals quickly and continues his good season.

Excited to see how we do. I think compared to last year we’re better offensively but defense is worse (could still surprise).
Goaltending could be similar. Hard to imagine doing better than what Suchanek did last year.

Anyways Češi do toho!
The D core for Ottaw and G is looking great!

Galvas, Jiricek, Badinka, Koci, Dvorak (???) and Port are all eligible. Also, another Svozil on the way!

G is also set with Hrabal, Matecha and Milota (I think ages are right here)

F is weaker as it will be Sale, Benak, Jecho and Stancl. Time will tell though.. guys like Curran seem real promising to my eye.

And Adam Novotny.. ;)

Who wears the letters for Czechia?

As a Sabres fan, looking for a big tournament from Kulich. Leading the AHL in goals as a 19 year-old is quite impressive.
I would assume he's one of the letters tbh. We will see. They are all in Europe training and he's still scoring in AHL.

My guess is the letters are some combo of Sapo, Sale, Kulich and Hamara. All returnees who will have big roles.

Beat Latvia 4-3 in exhibition. I know nothing about how we played though.
I'm pretty disappointed with what I saw. Unnecessary mistakes by the defenders, in the attacking third we couldn't hold onto the puck very well, a weak goalkeeper..
We have to be much better.
Of course, it's still just a preliminary game..

Sounds like Hrabal will get the start against Finland in their final pre-match.

4-3 against Latvia isn’t great but as we all know, it means nothing.

Most important is that no one on either side gets injured!

Excited for Boxing Day!

Yay for Kulich! I wouldn’t even play him against Finland. No injury to him please! lol

According to the coaches, Kulich won't even be there yet.. At least the question about not getting hurt is solved..

It was a typical pre-tournament game. When the Czechs increased the pace to the proper level, the difference in skill, speed, strength became apparent, perhaps save for Locmelis on the Latvia side who is a very interesting prospect indeed. But there were also many unfocused, sloppy, I would even say lazy plays in all three zones from Czechia. Only in the 3rd period, after Latvia scored their 3rd goal and made it a close game, the Czechs were able to stay focused for the remainder of the game and didn't allow any big pressure from Latvia in the final minutes. I wouldn't draw any conclusions based on this game, it was obvious the cooperation and communication was very raw and often chaotic, but that's pretty normal in this stage of the preparation camp.

Who was the goalie? I feel like we have 4 good goalies and only invited one.lol

And agree... Exhibition means nothing. Agree with czechcanadian... The only good result is no injuries.

Yup... I would bench the entire top line or just give them 4th line minutes and pp time. Finn's go hard.

Did not watch the game, but reading some Latvian commentary right now and apparently it was a pretty even game as the score would suggest.

Shots were 26-27
I expected a loss if I am being honest... This Latvian team will be a solid pain in the ass! I say that as a compliment.

Meanwhile it was announced that one of those 3 goalies Czechia, for whatever reason, opted not to select made the 2024 CHL top prospects game.

I am afraid that if the arrival of Kulich does not resurrect us, then with this tournament we will go back to the time of Rulík. We are not keeping up with absolutely anything.

We didn't improve in the second period either. There is chaos in our game, we lose the vast majority of personal battles. I didn't find a single positive in our game.
Židlický "interested" me. I had no doubt that his hockey IQ was close to zero, but the way he sent opposing players into outnumbered by his involvement in the game was comical:snide:

This was a bad game. Heavy legs, babillion of penalties. Mistakes in positioning. Fortunately it was still just a pre-tournament game, but they need to improve literally everything.

I wrote that the most important thing will be for the implementation team to do a good job and thus imitate Rulíka et al. But for now, this looks like a throwback to the old days. We can take comfort in the fact that these are only preliminaries, but this team so far, I repeat so far, does not resemble the team from last year. And I'm afraid it won't get much better.
It's probably unnecessary, because this was a collectively bad performance, but the person who is perhaps the most noticeable that he is not at ease is Cech. I always thought he was a solid player, but he already played badly against Latvia and today he only confirmed it.
