So, that's how I see it.

Lineup:
Škarek
Dostál
Patera

Galvas Král
Šalda Kubíček
Gaspar Haš

Zadina Nečas Kaut
Teplý Lauko Safin
Blümel Pekař Štrondala
Rousek Kondelík Barinka(Plášek)

Your top line is sick! If that happens we could have a legit gamebreaking line. assuming we could get secondary scoring somewhere and keep the puck out of the net we could be a great counter punch team

This line will lead our Men's National Team in future.

I wish we could have another 3 lines with the same quality.

Only Canada and USA have 4 lines of the same quality. I don't think it's possible for any European country.
Anyway the forward group is fine and I wish we had similiar one every year.

I doubt Barinka and Kubicek even get invited to pre-tournament camp, let alone make the WJC team. Also, what happened to Jenik?

I don't know what to thing about Jenik. His stats seems bad, especially in the Chance liga where he constantly plays around 20 minutes and only have 2 points in 10 games (-9 +/-), that doesn't seem good at all. And in Extraliga, his TOI is around 8 minutes, so...

Barinka and Kubíček: They will not make the team propably but I just think they have bigger potential than guys like Kvasnička or Plášek (and they're also doing well in their leagues) so i would choose Barinka and Kubíček over the guys I mentioned, but that's just my opinion.

Jenik was one of the top Czech forwards at the U18s and whenever I watched Benatky, he was a standout. His stats are bad, but Benatky is such a low-scoring team and he got robbed several times too.

Kubicek is scoring at a decent rate, but I don't think you can go with two underage defensemen. And between him and Has, it's easy choice. Barinka is scoring barely 0,5 PPG in the QMJHL, that's not WJC worthy. There are many forwards I would take before him. The "potential" argument I would get in Mysak's case, who is an elite talent, but Barinka and Kubicek are mid-round talents. Such prospects shouldn't play in the U20.

Ohh, Myšák, Forgot about him. Can he make the team? That would be better option than Barinka.

Our defense is usually weak, so I thought that if we give chance some young players such as Haš and Kubíček that it can make our defense stronger in the next WJC's, but i agree with you.

From what I read Barinka's stats doesn't show his reals qualities but Myšák would be now still better option anyway.

And Jeník, I didn't see him play much this season, so i judget by his stats so... If he will get more TOI and points in another matches then he will be good player for usx no doubt about it.

Still, this team looks good, so maybe some medal finally after those years. But, the question is, Can you imagine what would happen if we would actually win some medal at the WJC? I can imagine how many interviews there would be with Král and Lener talking about how our hockey progressed in past few years and how we finally managed to get on the same level with Finns and Swedes, that could make our situation even worser, because we are not close to Finnland or Sweden, so...

Pekař is gonna be higher, propably 3rd line.

Škarek will be number one at the start of tournament.

Has Skarek had a good game for the National team at the World Jr's? I feel like he does not have much look for us at the U20's

Sure, on the last WJC he didn't play so well, but at that time he was playing in Czech republic, but now he is in better league, with better coaches and so on... so I expect more from him this time.

U19 for the hockey challenge. Who do you thing can make it to the U20 team?
My favorites:
Jan Myšák
Michal Teplý
Matěj Blümel

Goalies:
Daniel Dvořák (Hradec Králové)
Kristián Kolář (Plzeň)
Tomáš Vomáčka (University of Connecticut, NCAA).

Defense:
David Aubrecht (Benátky nad Jizerou)
Jan Dluhoš, Tomáš Dajčar (oba Litoměřice)
Jan Štibingr (Slavia Praha)
Jakub Müller (Lappeenranta, Finsko)
Jakub Adámek (Třinec)
Zack Malík (Sudbury, OHL).

Offense:
Jan Šír (Benátky nad Jizerou)
Otakar Šik, Jaroslav Dvořák (oba Litoměřice)
Jan Kern (Omaha, USHL)
Matěj Blümel (Waterloo, USHL)
Roman Půček (Sault Ste. Marie, OHL)
Jan Bambula (Havířov)
Vojtěch Kropáček, Lukáš Rousek (oba Sparta Praha)
Vojtěch Střondala (Kometa Brno)
Jan Myšák (Litvínov)
Michal Teplý (Liberec)
Zdeněk Sedlák (Oulu, Finsko).

Since his insane showing at Hlinka he has been terrible playing for the national team. Last year he had one decent game, against Sweden (1:3 loss). And by the way, this year he played two U20 game I believe and he got blown out in both - despite being one of the top Liiga goalies.
I hope and fully believe the starter will be Dostal or some other surprise (Patera, Vomacka).

I am surprised Teply and Blumel are even nominated. I expected them to be on the U20 camp nomination.
Also, this should put the Kubicek and Barinka talks to bed. If they were seriously considered they would have been on this U19 team I think.

I wasn't expecting Barinka to make the team, but he should get a chance at the U19 challenge.
Kubíček is in my opinion still better than most of those defensemans that are gonna play there.

I was just about to link the article to the teams for this.lol

How do you guys like our chances at the World Junior A challenge? My understanding is 5 teams and 4 go to Semi's. I'm surprised we got an invite to such a prestigious tournament. But I'm thinking we're a strong favourite to finish 5th and not make the playoffs? Any hope here?

I'm also suprised no Barinka nomination... he's been decent.

That's what I recall too... everytime he plays for us at U20 level he gets destroyed.

I had to google him.. he's doing amazing in the Liiga! It must be the Czech D that makes him look that bad...

Bad defense + junior hockey are likely the reasons for his poor play. He is playing in pro leagues since his U17 season. Just for the record, I think Skarek has potential to be NHL goalie one day, but I don't want to him to be the starter for us at the WJC. Dostal and potentially Patera/Vomacka are better junior-level goalies.

Also just remembered of Petr Cajka, who is doing surprisingly well in the OHL. He is not on the U19 roster, does that mean he is gonna go straight to the U20 camp?

I don't think so. But we'll find out on Monday. Can't wait...

Considering even Pucek got the U19 invite, I don't see how would they leave out Cajka completely. Cajka is producing better than Pucek in the same league, and I think Cajka is also the better two-way forward. (Didn't see Pucek play, but Cajka is good defensively.)

I think the locks are Zadina, Nečas, Kaut, Safin, Pekař, Lauko in the attack, Galvas, Šalda and Král in defense. This is the basis and perhaps none of them will hurt. I'm curious about the preparatory games and who's fighting for the team. Perhaps the case of Hájek will not be repeated two years back (a nonsensical selection of the player, the second Hájek is not there, of course..))

So, I was watching the 1st period of yesterday match between Pardubice and Zlín, and I must say that Machala impressed me, especially his speed... (I understand that it's not challenge to be faster than anybody else on the ice in our grandpa's league but still...)

If he didnt injure his hand last year, he would play in WJC imo.

What about Libor Zabransky? Does he have a chance at the team? He was the Captain for the u18's last year. He's looking pretty decent in Kelowna right now. 25gp - 2g - 5a - 7pts - (+1) - 28pim.
