I honestly believe that this year is a far better chance. I don’t see why we wouldn’t get Zadina and Kaut. And Necas is a big possibility too. You throw Safin, Pekar, Jenik, and Lauko to the mix and you’ve got a pretty darn good forward group. Maybe the best we’ve had in a very long time.
Sure the defence will be weak, but I don’t think it’s anybworse then last year. I truly believe that Kubicek and Hugo Has could be good surprises even at their young age. And Galvas is going to be really solid.
Goaltending will be fine. Dostal is fantastic. He likely gets the start over Skarek imo.
So anyways it should be fun at the very least. I see us being very competitive.
I am also pessimistic after last years breakdown especially, but overall I think we’re better this year.
Nobody on this year's D core is even close to Hajek. It's true he exceeded my expectations at the WJC, but he is just a higher profile prospect when to compared to guys like Galvas, Salda or Kral (who still isn't playing, will he be actually ready for the WJC?) Also, I don't think Kubicek will make the team.
Goaltending looks extraordinary, but the past couple years taught me not to get excited. Guys like Vladar and Vanecek got lit up despite being good goalies.
That being said, the forward depth is better than in the past years.

Chytl was kept up passed the 9 games, but I don't think that closes the door on him for the WJC necessarily. It depends how he progresses over the next month or so. I think he's a possibility still.

Who did we lose from last year that makes us worse? I felt that group was dominated by 18 year olds who are 19 this year. The only major loss would be Hajek and Chytil. This is assuming that Kaut, Zadina and Necas are available.

I think there is nobody to replace Hajek. We had good forvard multiple times, but in my opinion we don't have defense or goalies to win two playoff games.

If Kral is healthy and playing by the time the tournament starts, is he a lock to make it? He has been injured and didn't participate in training camp. Hasn't played any games this year.

I read he should be ready to play in a week or two. If he's ready by the WJC time, he's near lock. Would need disasterous showing at the camp to lose his spot.

I think Chytil will play at the WJC. Not that I think he's not good enough to play with the NHL team now, but he hasn't been given a consistent role yet, and I think the GM is eventually going to decide he needs that.

Definitely right about Hajek... he was a step above.

I didn't even realize he passed his 9 games! That is great news. Necas, Kaut and Zadina still in AHL. Team could be real solid.

Zacha to the AHL...
Stop it man. It was apparent for quite some time Zacha is a bust. I didn't expect them to send him down, but it's actually the right move. This way Zacha might still become something more than a 4th liner. Though I personally think he will be out of the league in 2-3 years.
There's plenty of negative stuff for the Czechs in the NHL, for example Nosek with Hyka not producing, Rutta not playing and Kase with Palat being injured. But Zacha getting sent down is not one of them.

Nov. 10/18 Titan 0 Mooseheads 9 – QMJHL

Safin and Barinka with a really good game for Halifax. They're playing on the same line and showing some really good chemistry. Barinka slowly getting used to the NA game...
Safin 1+3
Barinka 2+0
Filip Kral with a very good 1+2 game for Spokane. Hopefully he keeps it up.

I read Safn had 8 points in last 5 games.. he looked terrible in preseason for the Oil. Glad he's turned it around a bit... still not sure what to make of the guy. All the tools but so inconsistent. He started last year's World Juniors on line 1 and ended up on line 4. Hoping for a lot more from him at this year's world juniors which still has the potential for a stacked offence.

Kral - GOOD... our D is so weak. We need a few guys to rise up.

Definitely hope Safin can stay in a good rhythm leading up to the world juniors. Fitting in quite well in Halifax. Thank God he is not in Saint John this year....just look at Prikryl...

I think Prikryl will be fine long-term, but this year it will likely cost him the draft.

I hope for Zadina, Nečas, Chytil, Kaut being available, or at least 3 of them. The defense looks not very good, but that is the evergreen. I still have some hope for Galvas to keep the flag up, he looks good in Extraliga, can play quite plenty of minutes on the men's level without making many major mistakes. But this team should be about the ofense: Also Lauko, Safin, Pekař ale looking very good. In Extraliga, the situation is not so optimistic, young guys don't play regularly and/or are the 4th lines spending just a few minutes on the ice per game. In the second league, several junior players can produce, but at the same time, the level of this league isn't very high, especially the pace. Compared to the world juniors it is actually very slow and even tactically most of the teams and games are rather inconsistent. So I suppose the team to be about the guys playing in the North America, with a few guys from the Czech leagues trying to hold the pace and don't allow lazy goals as the 3rd/4th liners.

The second time Pasta was sent to the WJC, it was because of his previous injury. Chytil is developing into a key forward for Rangers and he will most definitely not be sent to play at the WJC.
