I think once he's on a wing he'll be more physical and be able to get open for higher quality shots. Playing C brings extra responsibility and typically means he's in the middle of the ice more often. Although everytime I watch him he gravitates to the boards and likes to stay higher in the d-zone than most C's, but that could be a system thing.

I agree on him being a passenger. The good thing is though I think we have enough drivers to make up for it. If he can find himself open to use his shot, I think we will be more than happy.
He’s best at finding the soft areas and being shooting only mode to boot

When you’re a center a lot more thought is happening, that might paralyze one to just be more physical and fluid. I agree being a winger means he becomes what we desperately needed, a physical shoot firstbrute force

He was so good defensively this weekend, he locked down Celebrini all weekend. He was great killing penalties. BC has come to rely on him to be their go to guy to match up on other team's best players. I don't think he's Patrice Bergeron but it's pretty cool to see him develop a solid defensive game. It'll serve him really well at the next level whether that's at center or wing

I love to hear that. Perfect compliment for the team. Size, good on defense, speed, great shot, good at finding the soft spots on the ice.

I made the mistake of wading into the comments section. Woof. I should have known what I was in for.

Meh screw those fans, I loved this part of the article..

Gauthier, who scored two goals in second-ranked BC’s weekend sweep of the No. 1 Terriers, had made a good impression. The night before, Verbeek, standing in Section KK at Conte Forum, watched Gauthier and the Eagles beat their archrivals. They had also talked over dinner for the first time since meeting at the 2022 NHL Combine.

“I wanted to show him I’m not just a one-dimensional player who can score,” said the left-shot center, the No. 5 pick in 2022. “I can play a 200-foot game. Be trustworthy like my coaches see in me, whether it’s playing a defensive game, locking it down. Or being productive offensively, too. I thought I had a good weekend. Shut down one of their best players. It was a fun weekend overall to get the wins.”

Pretty cool they had dinner the night before, and Gauthier wanted to make an impression.

Soon…

Celebrini was as quiet as he reasonably can be, with only five shots on goal, but very few of the threatening variety because Gauthier, a full two and a half years older and of similar draft vintage, drew the defensive assignment and dogged him all night. It was just the fourth time all season Celebrini was held off the scoresheet, and the first in over two months.

"We had Cutter against Celebrini a lot tonight, and [that line] did a great job," Brown said. "I thought they are able to get on top of those guys a lot, not to give him too much free ice, and then also generate a few chances for our side too. We presented Cutter with that challenge and he was excited for it and he did a great job."

No wonder Ryan Kesler approves of the Ducks trading for Cutter in that instagram post that he commented on. Could become a upgraded Kesler that plays on the wing instead of Center. Kesler usually topped out around 50 points, Cutter could be around 60 to 70 points.

He mentioned this as well in an article on the Athletic. I really like his attitude and that he plays defense well. Starting to get pretty excited about him.

Shut down one of their best players. It was a fun weekend overall to get the wins.”

Gauthier tipped his hat to Celebrini. But he was pleased with Brown’s trust in deploying him for endgame duty for the second straight night.

“It’s huge,” Gauthier said. “When the coach is looking down the bench, sees your number, has confidence and trust in you to go out and get a job done, that’s everything you want as a player. You want to have trust within your coach to put you in any situation, whether you’re down a goal or up a goal. I’m thankful the coach believed in me and we were able to get the job done.”

I just want him to score goals l. If he went CY YOUNG and scored 35 with 5 apples or 40 with 2 apples IDE take it

Maybe he will end up as the 2nd line center as well with MacT on his wing. Doesn't sound that far off to me.

So with Leo and Cutter down the middle and Terry, MacT and Z on the wing.
