What about a deal around Glencross and Richards where we get Toffoli?

We would have to add, but what, to get it done? I don't really want Richards, but he may be the piece we need to get this return and Glencross lightens the loss of Toffoli a bit. And they would probably re-sign him.

Yea? No? Or am I just smoking crack?

Edit: I guess what I'm getting at is if the return can fill a void, and isn't a pick, I'd be will to add to Glencross to increase the value.

No chance the Kings do that. They'll find a better/cheaper way of getting rid of that contract.

As for adds, they would probably want Russell and 1st '15. This would eliminate us from playoff contention (most likely) and replace the Voynov gap while fixing their cap problems.

Glencross is not going to yield a lot, don't overrate his value. Other teams probably have a good idea of how lackluster he has been this season and especially recently.

Anything better than a B-level prospect + 3rd would be a success.

I'm hoping for Boston, something like...

Glencross and Baertschi for Eriksson and Trotman

Gives us a top 9 of:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler
Colborne-Backlund-Eriksson
Raymond-Jooris-Jones

Don't get the fascination with Eriksson; 3 concussions in the last two years and almost 30. And the Flames are still rebuilding.

Bolded are guys I don't think Flames could get (Especially Pokka)

- Pokka is our best D prospect and playing great in AHL this year
- Johns is only physical SAH type in our system
- TVR is well liked by Q and is cheap/young NHL defender which Hawks will need
- Forsling/Dahlstrom are D pairing in Sweden and it seems Hawks got Forsling after watching him with Carl

Dahlbeck is probably a good target for Flames as it seems he will never get his chance to be guy in Chicago

If Rundblad or Erixon go away I would not mind one bit
I wasn't suggesting I thought the Hawks would let them go. In another post I even stated I didn't think TVR was a realistic option. But the worst that happens is we ask and Bowman says no. No harm no foul.

Us Flames fans know how good he USED to be.. It's a shame concussions got to him

I'm more hung up on the fact that it doesn't fit a rebuild to go after him than his concussions. But I more or less agree.

The concussions are a concern and the fact that we're still rebuilding, is what makes him a nice fit. He's essentially a one year, top 6 rental. Acquiring him improves our top 6, without giving up huge assets or tying up a spot long term. At worst, we'd easily get what we expect for GlenX next year and potentially more. Not to mention Trotman, who I believe, could be a great long term partner for Wotherspoon.

I only don't mind Eriksson because trading Glecross for him is an upgrade on forward, and he only has a year left on his contract. Either he can re-sign with us, or we trade him for more assets at the trade deadline. Yes, he has a concussion history but we have prospects that can fill in if need be.

If that is indeed Glencross list we definitely won't get a good return. Anaheim is probably the only one interested that actually has the cap space.

I think Anaheim is the one not interested. It was said they were the only team on his list to start; so either they were lowballing the Flames badly or they weren't interested or something would have gotten done IMO.

At 2.5 cap hit means almost any team can take the remainder of his salary this year. Cap space won't be an issue. I think trading GlenX will be a mistake but I'd like to see him in ANA.

I think he will be traded on deadline day.

Let other teams injuries pile up and make the need for him more desperate.
He is arguably the best rental on the market. And he has had an off year, which probably has something to do with the way he is utilized. I'm sure Hartley is under pressure, that if we have young kids in the line up, they have to be played in key situations. Glencross isn't used that way so his results have dipped.

Looking at his list, he would fit in nicely in the top 6 on any of those teams. And those teams know this.

His return CAN be really good if we mix the right pieces, retain salary if needed, and took on bad contracts.

I trust our GM to maximize his value, if he is moved.

waiting to the deadline can backfire too, like it did last year with Cammalleri. If some idiot GM holds his player too long while values plummet (like Snow did with Vanek) and the market crashes.

This true. And looking at the line rushes at practice it's as if we do have too many forwards. It could happen sooner than later.

I dunno, will make for an excruciating week.

I don't pay any attention to what posters say on the main board, saying their team isn't interested. Friedman said half the teams in the NHL have contacted the Flames. I heard him Friday morning on the fan and it definitely sounds like there's a lot of interest. Pretty much any contending team could use a guy like Glencross, you can never have to much depth for a Cup run. Guys are basically getting hit by bullets every game. I think Treliving is trying to find a deal that makes the most sense. Maybe he's trying to get another soon to be UFA for example that potentially he could resign? In that case it would also help us for our playoff run. Or maybe he's trying to find a dman, but I'm pretty sure he's weighing all his options right now.

All 29 teams could be interested in doesn't matter, Glencross has the last say and these are the only teams he is willing to go to.

From HNIC:
Friedman: “The Calgary Flames are working with Curtis Glencross to try and facilitate a trade. Glencross does have protection. Initially it was believed the only team on his list was Anaheim. Now it’s believed to be expanded: L.A., Tampa Bay, Nashville and Chicago among them. The Blackhawks believed to have interest. Of course they continue to work, player and team, to see if they can make that list grow larger.”

Based on the last sentence, sounds like they're having the same problem as they did before when the list was only Anaheim.

Hawks have interest whatever their fans might say, but they need to wait until the last minute of the trade deadline to pull something off. Could also be something brewing with the Canadiens given both teams seem to be scouting each other. Treliving might be trying to get Glencross to agree to a trade with Montreal.
