if Wright does end up being the pick for NJ, you 100% send him back to Kingston for next season right?
I don’t think so. I think he could come right in as our 3C and I’m not sure I like the OHL for his development.

An important part of the article. Gonna come down to Montreal and it could really go either way.

“One, if you were to survey another group of 10 scouts, you could very well end up with the same 5-4 split, but in favour of Wright. It’s really that tight in the eyes of so many scouts.

Two, this “consensus” ranking has nothing to do with the preference of the team — the Montreal Canadiens — that is picking first overall. Club order of draft selection is not a factor in our survey of scouts and TSN’s ranking of players.”

I'd probably throw him in the league. We're in a unique position where we could shelter the hell out of him as a 3C. Even if Jack or Nico goes down there's Mercer to take one of those top 6C roles. I wouldn't have any issue putting him in if he looks good in camp and preseason.

Unless mtl line of thinking falls in line with drafting slaf due to his rare combination of size and skill this year and next year load up on a C in a loaded draft class

I was just thinking about this…it almost doesn’t matter who the Devils pick. No one is drastically outshining the other two, and any of them would instantly be our best prospect and one of the best prospects in the league. Really can’t go wrong.

Luke > either imo.

Anyway I think Slaf is a better stylistic fit and probably more exciting, but wright is a surer bet to be a star in the league. I’m happy to have either. Which is why we’ll be drafting Nemec.

Wright and Luke would be close for me. I wonder how much of his underwhelming year this year was due to missing all of last year besides the U18 where he was historically great. If he can regain his former form then it's Wright. It's clearly Luke over Slaf for me. We're not going Nemec. If it's a D then Fitz would definitely go Jiricek over Nemec.

Slafkovsky and Wright both play better defense than Luke Hughes right now lol. They’re all close enough to me that i don’t really take issue with any order. Next season’s gonna be really fascinating.

Wright has nothing left to prove in the OHL. He looks bored there as it is.
I didn't watch his playoffs, but he didn't seem to be the best player on Kingston based on box score scouting and then the team disappointed. Keep in mind he only played two OHL seasons. So if he's bored in his 2nd OHL season, in which he wasn't the best player on his team and they didn't win anything...not to be an armchair psychologist but IDK how you can take him 1st really.

I think there is strong case that Luke would be #1 this year. He was pretty spectacular this year.

Especially the way Wright so lackluster at the begin of this year...Luke would have passed him by the mid-season rankings and wouldn't relinquished the spot after being named top a 10 Hobey Baker finalist and his World Championships.

What would be a realistic trade package from Arizona or Seattle to move up if Wright falls

If it wasn't for his inflated goal scoring totals his production would've been more in line with DY Quinn. I think there's a case but he likely doesn't end up going 1.
