Agreed. Lehkonen or Copp would be good adds at a reasonable price and with Kakko eventually coming back the forward group would be just fine.

Kreider-Mika-Laf
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Lehkonen/Copp-Barron-Goodrow
Hunt-Rooney-Reaves

I'm not sure what to do with Chytil or Gauthier.

yea it’s a tough call.
I’d def pump chytil full of top 6 RW minutes while kakko is out.
Gauthier may have a better skill set for bottom 6 duty.

The biggest worry I had about chytil might be coming true. He’s currently not good enough for consistent top 6 minutes, and he’s not really the type of player you want in the bottom 6, style wise.

I think he’ll still develop, but the rangers aren’t going to wait another 2-3 years to wait and see.

that’s how I see the facts on the ground at this time for him, as far as 3C goes at least.
That’s why finding out what he could do at top 6 wing is important.

Gauthier in junior had 54 games played one season and was 41 goals + 16 assists.....LOL....those are Kreider like numbers . Let the kid play...he will eventually score a few in due time . Don't forget he also played in two World Juniors with Team Canada . Power forwards take TIME .

The problem I have with him is that only is good with ice infront of him and the puck on his stick. We take a lead in a game and face a team that press hard, Gauthier will get 2-3solif rushes. But you want to see more the rest of the time.

I never saw the appeal in envisoning or predicting what our team would look like in the future. There are just too many variables in play to come up with anything very probable.

I like to concentrate on the season at hand. I mean who knows if Miller is even here in two years. but there is no doubt he has a big future in store.

What I ponder about, is what the TDL will do to this team. They are doing so well, I would hate to see any disruptions in team chemistry and such. But I said same thing in '94. They were in first place and traded away Mike Gartner and Tony Amonte at the deadline. And I can tell you, no one was happy about that, but it worked out. Just hope Drury, doesn't rock the boat too much. Cause we will never know if we could have won the Cup with Gartner and Amonte. It coulda been Gartner, Gartner, Gartner instead of Matteau, Matteau, Matteau.

Keenan traded them away, cause he was a bit of a nut and didn't get along with everyone, including those two. Whereas Gallant is the exact opposite and gets along with everyone.
Totally agree we can’t worry about the lineup in two or three seasons. So many variables. Moving parts. That said, it doesn’t mean they should live like there’s no tomorrow. Always proceed with a cap-wise approach but let the pieces fall where they may, so to speak.

Yes, a couple years back someone said we shouldn't sign anyone because we needed to save $10 million a piece for Kravtsov and Kakko this summer.

They also had 4 PP's. That helps.
The reffing was mildly upsetting to me. At least two late hits ignored but as soon as Strome pushes on a guy’s calf with no time on the clock it’s a penalty. I felt the refs were encouraging tempers to boil over so ESPN could have their bloody brouhaha. At best it was “game management“ and that sucks too.

I agree. Chytil did ok on the Panarin line with 4 points in 4 games. Right now I would put him there and move Goodrow to 3rd line.

Yup me too, it’s currently the best balance. Goodrow also provides great insulation for Barron.
Chytil may thrive at top 6 wing without having the same responsibilities he has at center.
He can use his speed and shot more. Strome/panarin might give him a little more open ice.
Then if that works, bang add Lehkonen and all of a sudden 4 lines become dangerous...
Kreid-Zibby-Laffy
Panarin-Strome-Chytil
Lehkonen-Barron-Kakko or Goodrow-Barron-Lehky
Rooney-Goodrow-Reaves

Hunt/Gauthier

kakko can be bumped up if chytil doesn’t work.
It gives you a ton of options.....
Get well soon Blais.... he’ll be a welcome addition to that line up as well.

5-on-5 shots were 31-19, Washington. First two periods shots were 20-15.

Washington did run up the shot totals in the third.

They pushed in the 3rd because they were behind. The game didn't have a feel that Rangers were outplayed which they weren't. SOG stat alone is meaningless without context. All I care about is how many shots go in goal, not just on goal.

The Captials were in the drivers seat for most of the game, not just the third, but it was close :dunno:

I guess if you just purely look at SOG, then it looks like the Caps only drove hard in the third period.

We won 4-1 against a team that we're battling for position in the playoffs and of course we have to complain about the Corsi.

Okay, dude

I'm just saying that the idea that NYR were in control of the game outside of the third period "when the Caps drove up the shots b/c score effects or whatever" is a lie.

But yeah, take my post as me complaining about the Rangers performance. You do you, boo. I hate that anything outside of "Woo Rangers won" is considered "complaining" if the goal differential is over 2 goals.

I think it was a lot closer than the scoreline indicated.

They did outshoot us and out-chance us by a significant margin. Flubbed two open nets
When we get outplayed 5 on 5 but hit 3 posts and miss an open net or two, the posts don’t count and we can’t generate 5 on 5, when the opposition does it, it counts double

Look, I'm not exactly Mr. sunshine and rainbows but if every game the Rangers play there weren't people complaining no matter what it looks like, win or lose, I'm sure people wouldn't take posting how much the Rangers sucked in a 4-1 win against a division rival to heart.

NHL officiating is the worst.

Not usually a "blame the refs" guy but its very fishy that the Rangers aren't getting any calls since they came back from the break. They missed at least 3 extremely blatant calls against us yesterday.

I know. They have averaged about 1 PP a game since the break and I have quite a few that could have been called. NHL officiating is just plain bad. I despise "game management". Call it like you see it.

it’s what those Dbag refs dho... keep the games from running away.
That’s why having shesty and the bend but don’t break tenacity is key.
A lot of peaks and valleys in every game now

I think they are hoping that miller-Schneider become a monster 2nd pair together... a real problem for teams to handle.

I also think Lindgren-Fox is going to be a pair together for a very long time, unless Lindgren gets crazy on his next Contract demands......
It’s going to take a lot for someone to come and unseat his position next to Fox given their history, and the way they play together.

both Jones/Robertson are going to be in the mix next season for that 3rd D spot....
Jones should fully get the starting role, but I won’t be surprised at some point If Robertson gets an injury call up somewhere in the middle of next year and plays too good to be sent back down.
Who is Robertson pushing out of the lineup? Fox? Lindgren? Miller? Trouba? Jones? Schneider?

I don't care about breakaways on Igor either. Or most anything else either.
