FWIW there are currently 9 players in the whole league with a cap hit of 10 or more. Seven are forwards. I realize some of these deals were signed under a lesser cap, but it's still amusing for Duchene to make the argument that he's in this category.

Assuming we’re suddenly a cap team? I guess 70 million. I don’t think that NYI, NYR, NJD, MTL, VAN or SJS would go much higher than that, and they have some of the worst tax situations in the NHL. Our worry there would be more FLA or NSH. The former seems to be focused elsewhere and the latter would have to move mountains to make it work.

I don't see a need in Florida with Barkov and Trocheck.

Ask Chayka that. We can get some relief from Hossa, but still, you are right, and we still have to sign our RFA's. I like Duchene a lot, but I think he will price himself out of the Coyotes quickly.

UFA at the end of the year with an increase in pay. If we go and get a player like Duchene, I don’t think we can afford to sign Galchenyuk after signing Keller and Kuemper to raises.

Hey that’s good! Even if he’s got us among the top five or top three of suitors that could theoretically even fit him or be interested in trying to do so, we’ve still got a long way to go to be something other an a long shot.
