ECHL teams get more respect than the Coyotes, but Gar-Dog is still holding out hope Matthews will arrive with unparalleled fanfare and make hockey the most popular sport in AZ.

Anyone who's been to a Coyotes game knows that expectations with the club are incredibly low, so none of the fans (or local media) will bat an eye at the new dressing room arrangements. They can be down 5-0 in a game and the fans are still dancing and singing away in the stands, not booing their team off the ice.

Considering the US has such a strong sports culture overall, it's a shame, but not a surprise. Even in the US, unless a significant portion of the population grows up playing a certain sport, it takes a winning record and strong marketing to succeed.

That is the biggest problem I see here.

Changing into your equipment and out of your equipment while standing on a cement floor isn't professional at all, but at least it is doable. The NHL players will be able to tolerate it for 1 game.

But does the road team not have access to any showers, toilets, or running water?

The spoiled millionaires will survive a game in Arizona.
How about the spoiled millionaires that will play half their games in this circus

I don’t ever want to see a city lose a team, period.
But good Lord, this is a clown show that just keeps looking worse

Have you looked at their roster? Other than a few, who wants them? It's full-on Tank City.
But hey, they get the nice locker room. Seriously, a team shouldn’t be allowed to gain home ice advantage this way. But that’s just one of several things wrong with this abomination.

Why would they film this?

The fake rebuilding or so called *construction* of the hockey team currently is more embarassing than the Arena. Like Arizona is not trying to compete or be good in the future whatsoever they are a cap dump team to help out all the others in the league, am I mistaken? That's the vibe they give off

Yotes should have been forced to play on the road until their mickey mouse arena was ready, like Isles were last year.

That's what I still don't understand......there weren't any full-size arenas in neighbouring states that could play babysitter at least until Tempe was ready - if that ever happens, anyway?

The Suns ownership group didn't want to step up and turn their arena in to a two-sport facility, again on just a temporary basis while the Coyotes figure things out?

I don't get it, a University arena doesn't have enough locker rooms for 2 teams?

I must have missed something, because the 50 years old arena near my high school had more than 1 locker room...

Its no excuse, but that arena has been extensively remodeled. It just isn't quite finished yet.

Yeah, all of that. But I was just referring to these 4 home games being played before the dressing rooms are ready. Isles started last season with 13 road games because their arena wasn't quite ready. Clearly, Mullet Arena is not quite ready. It being at best a 5,000 seat amateur arena is another issue.

There is a difference between starting on the road and never playing at home. The Isles got to play 41 games at home.

It's not a good look for sure. My guess is that had they been moved temporarily to another area (Houston as an example), they probably felt they would lose much of their core fanbase and never recover. Things are bad enough now.

Personally, I don't want to see Arizona move. I would rather have hockey everywhere, even if it's a tough sell. LA was a tough sell for a long time. I really don't care too much that my team is helping to support them. My team is still spending to the cap, so it's the owners who are taking a bit of a shave and I'm OK with that.

Hopefully, with the new arena, they can get things going. If not, I think they're at the end of their life and the team will be gone.

It works in Dallas, it works in Colorado, it works in Florida, it works in California.

To varying degrees, sure, but still.

Why it continues to fail in Arizona is truly a mystery. I did say earlier though that if they haven't left by now I don't think they ever will. A temporary relocation would've been miles better than what they're trying to do with this glorified rec center as a home base for three seasons. It's pretty sad.

Been like 25 years since the late 90’s expansion that the nhl mandated new arenas for expansion teams.

San Jose, TB, and Ottawa joined the nhl and started out in very old arenas but that was early 90’s. Into 2022 now and this situation is shockingly bad. Sounds like AZ is playing these 4 games at home then another long road trip so they will end up with like 10 more road games before they have another home stand. If they were actually trying to make the PO this would doom them like it did the Isles last season.

But, it’s a really bad look for the NHL.

Not a big deal.

There's plenty of golf courses in Arizona and girls at ASU are HOT and always ready to mingle. Visiting players have plenty of amenities that make up for the lack of decor.
Hot singles waiting to mingle at an alleged arena near you!

If it weren't the Coyotes I wouldn't say it couldn't get any worse.... Over to you Arizona, let's see what you can come up with next.
