No interest in him if the price is a 1st or a 2nd. That's crazy to be asking that much for a healthy scratch. His point totals are fine but not that impressive.

Oesterle has been our 2nd or 3rd best defensemen since OEL got hurt. He's been playing more minutes and hasnt really looked out of place.
What does that tell you about how the rest of the D are playing?

I wouldn't give up anything of value for Dunn. He isn't great at taking a regular shift playing against normal or good competition. Oesterle had the same rate of ES production and played tougher minutes last year.

Just play Capo and Soderstrom. That's what this year is for.
Look at St. Louis defense. Everyone playing more or above Dunn is better than any of our D excluding OEL. St Louis is stacked on D. If you wouldn't give up anything of value then what is Gogo, Demers and Hammer worth? A bucket of pucks?

I'm fine with Dunn. He's been noticeable everytime I watch. But I'd be cautious knowing he's used in a sheltered role on a deep blueline.

Maybe we can flip a UFA D with retention and a midround pick for Dunn if noone bites. I'd still look at Bozak, too.
He's probably used in sheltered minutes because of the D they have. Here I believe he would log many more minutes. Just have to look at his competition he would have.

I think with Dunn you have to like his PP upside. His 1st among STL D in Primary PPP/60 the last two seasons combined (only 77gp, granted). And you have to like his spunk. He doesn’t take shit and he’s super annoying.

He could develop into a fun little player if a few things went right over the next season or two. I think he’s worth a 2nd as a gamble. But I want to see guys who bring PP production and energy. He provides both. Having said that, he’s far from perfect. Lol.

It's exciting to see Jordan Kyrou really take off in STL. Not saying we should acquire him -- that's not happening -- but it's pretty promising that Army can pick out that kind of talent in the second round.

Was anybody watching the game last night? I saw a screenshot of Bob McKenzie posted on Twitter and there was a banner across the screen below that said something along the lines of “will Rick Tocchet be the first head coach fired?“ I can’t find the video for the life of me.
They had him on between periods of the Hawk / Pred game, but I don't recall him saying anything like that. Certainly would have taken notice, unless I just somehow missed it.

As if our D is perfect. I think Dunn would be an amazing addition to our D.

It was a viewer question. Bob just mentioned the pandemic is maybe playing a part with coaches in their last year not getting contract renewal or it being delayed as they are trying to reset the Babcock coaching contract market. (Tocc, Green, Torts, etc)

Tocc being the guy bets are being placed as the first one to go. But Bob said he hates those type of questions but the pandemic means nothing is for sure. Also said Tocc wasn’t an Army hire sooo...

It's Kyrou's D+5 year. A reminder to everyone to be patient with young players.

Dylan Strome never gets traded under BA.

Craig’s latest mailbag suggested he came to camp late and they didn’t like his condition or attitude. Seems like strong criticism but Craig is usually pretty careful with that stuff. I feel like I remember hearing he’s maybe a party guy but I can’t find the source.

Rabbit we need you!!!! To be clear I really appreciate all of the other work you've done (incl the fantasy league thank you so much), but if you can find that video / screenshot that would be amazing.

I'll continue to try to pay it forward too, more than happy to continue to write detailed breakdowns of basic plays for those confused (for instance why a defensive clear up the boards shouldn't be confused with a suicide pass) like I did last time in the other thread.

If you can find that link easily there's so many of us who would absolutely appreciate it, thx so much in advance. If not, no worries but there are enough very involved fans that we would appreciate if you could make the time. Not even considering the lurkers who probably outnumber the posters at least 10-1, and who are all trying to learn hockey as best they can.

THANK YOU!!!! Regardless if you have the time, appreciate all you've done here ;)

Victor Mete might be another name worth checking out too. Can't seem to crack Montreal's lineup right now.

I've talked about his (great) underlying numbers before. I think he's an ideal Goligoski replacement. He can play real minutes right now. Friedman says he's being looked at by other teams.

Problem is that no one wants to pay a 2nd so Montreal will likely just keep him for depth.

I've never been impressed by Mete. :dunno: I know lots of people think he has big upside. I always proposed Kulak in the MTL trades.

Dunn plays a similar role, and is much more noticeable. I think he has legit upside, even if it's a risk.
Mete screams 6/7D to me. I've never seen the upside. To me, Jordan Gross is basically the same thing as Mete. Small puckmover who can be effective when sheltered.
Dunn has been playing basically the same role, but he has occasional snarl to his game and plays a bit heavier. There's a better chance he becomes a guy who can reliably move into a top four role.

Can we send Demers with max retention to Tampa for Katchouk or Joseph and a late pick?

I'd rather keep our 2nds and see if we can some Kyrous or Dvoraks than trade for Dunn.

I'd only add a dman right now if we're bargain shopping. Wait until free agency and see if we can add one or two top 4 RD. Might only need one with Soderstrom looking good. Two would be a luxury bumping Bush to 7D.

Well, it'd be nice not to have to search for 2 top-four defensemen in the offseason. Which is why Schmaltz for Dumba as a trade basis is attractive, imo. Also why we need to give Capo and Soderstrom time to see what we actually have next year. The fewer holes we have to trust in free agency or off-season trades to fill, the better. Look at how the Oilers' offseason went. How many teams add 2 top-four D in an off-season?
