Will TB protect 4 Ds? Seattle will get someone good from TB and I can't see them trading whomever right away.
Cernak is more expensive. Between him and TyJo that's 8aav. Maybe use TyJo to help mitigate whatever the acquisition cost on Cernak might be? Maybe Kessel with 50% retention (leaving 3.4aa) and Lyubuskin for Cernak and TyJo? Saves them 3.2aav. Not sure if that's worth their while.

AM has been great during the season, not so good in the playoffs. Now, is that his fault, HC, or the team in general? He is making the big bucks to produce in the playoffs. It's one thing to dipsy doodle during the year, but quite another to produce in the playoffs. AM has much to prove as a player, but he is still young, and like they say, you have to learn to lose, before you can learn how to win. I want to see AM take that next step before I shell out 100mil. or more. These next two years are going to be interesting to watch him grow as a player. Losing this year might be the best thing to happen to AM.
He'll also make the big bucks because he is worth the price of admission, something with which the Coyotes are extremely unfamiliar. I'm 100% ok with the floor of a player being a yearly threat for the rocket, regardless of playoff performance. The cup is always the goal but I'd happily settle for just being f***ing entertained man. I want to come home from a long day, chill and watch the Coyotes consistently kick the crap out of other teams during the regular season and consistently be a threat for the presidents trophy. If I could get that, I could live with whatever happens in the playoffs, even if it's a lot of disappointing 1st round exits!

Talk is cheap. Winning is being entertained. Not fast dipsey doodle coast to coast hockey. If that is part of it, fine, but if you lose, it's not entertainment, rather frustration. I'm glad AM is learning how to lose with TO, and I fully expect him to mature into a better player than he is today, but performance in the playoffs is what counts. If AM signs here he will be a big hit for a couple of years no matter how the team plays, but if we don't win we will be in the same situation we are now. There is nothing like your hometown team in the SC finals. No better feeling. I remember the Oilers first cup like it was yesterday. There was an instant party on Jasper Ave. I hope we can experience that here, then you will know what entertainment really is.

So i am just throwing a name in here, but how about we get Tom Kühnhackl.
He plays a gritty style of hockey, good two way game and he is a work horse, isn't shy to get into the corners for pucks and fight for them.
Also he can play up and down the lineup.

Yes he did not play in th NHL this year because of a shoulder injury last year but i think he could give us a little bit more sandpaper and will.

I literally just fantasized about a team that is annually in the hunt for the presidents trophy. That would mean they're one of the best teams in the NHL. That would require a ton of winning. So your post doesn't make any sense to me, maybe re-read my post and explain what you disagree with. :dunno:

After watching the playoffs I am more convinced than ever that we need to burn the roster to the ground and start all over. Playoffs in 3 years. Contenders in 4 or 5. Start the purge!

I'm not sure that timeframe is reasonable for a scorched earth plan??

As opposed to a rebuild, it would be a great time for a 2 or 3 for 1 trade where we bring in a real difference maker that doesn't include losing Garland, Dvo or Chych. Add one good player to those three, move a few contracts off the roster and fill in with youth and a few FAs.

Although I haven't watched too many of the playoff games this year (I'll tune in more regularly either in the next round or the one after that--although I'll try to watch a few Game 6s or 7s), I think we do need an overhaul as well once a new coach is in place. Now, I don't think totally scorching the earth is the best strategy, but would be fine with an abundance of changes...

Going through the roster, here are my thoughts:
  • Dvorak--Keep
  • Crouse--One reasonable season left on his contract, keep. If he does well under a new coach, re-sign next season
  • Garland and Bunting--Re-sign to hopefully reasonable contracts (we'll probably have to overpay Bunting a bit but we need his "grit")
  • Pitlick, Larsson, Hayden--I'm indifferent. Each did okay (Larsson was probably the best of the three) and I would be fine keeping Larsson or Pitlick
  • Oesterle--Release, although I would be fine with re-signing him on a cheap (and short) contract in hopes that he excels under a new coach
  • Fischer--Move unless he fits well into a new coach's strategy. His contract is reasonable enough that several teams would probably roll the dice
  • Keller, Kessel, Schmaltz, OEL, and Kuemper--if we can get a team to take on any of these contracts and get a semi-decemt return, I'm fine with their departures.
  • Brassard, Goligoski, Hjalmarsson, Demers, and Raanta--release

A full rebuild would be 5-10 years before playoffs/contending. Drafting in 2022 means we're getting players who are currently 17. 5 years before they start to make a real impact. Would need more than one draft to build a team as well. Likely 8 years before we're really good unless we get Wright/Bedard and hit on draft picks at a rate this franchise has never seen.

Cernak would be great but he’s a budding star…6-3 230…a stud RHD.

TB will protect Hedman, Cernak and Sergy.

TyJo, Raddysh, Somppi and Foote. Not sure what we'd need to trade to get that but that's the package I'd aim for.
I think u could cut a deal with Tampa whwre you agree to take on TyJo and they give u another asset to do so. Post expansion if they don't cut a deal with Seattle first.

Winning the SC. I don't care about the regular season. Sure it's fun to watch a team like Colorado kill other teams in the regular season, but after a couple of years you want more, like the SC. If they don't win it this year their fans will be screaming. The bar is set so low here, making the playoffs is like winning the SC.:)

A full rebuild never takes 10 years. Five years yes, but after ten years you would be in another rebuild.

That's why RT should have been gone last year. We would have had a new coach with the players for a year to evaluate. Anyways, I guess BA was doing that with coach and players and his first move was getting rid of RT. We have some good pieces here moving forward, but to many of the same pieces. BA knows he has to change the mix, and if that means trading a good player so be it.
