That's why RT should have been gone last year. We would have had a new coach with the players for a year to evaluate. Anyways, I guess BA was doing that with coach and players and his first move was getting rid of RT. We have some good pieces here moving forward, but to many of the same pieces. BA knows he has to change the mix, and if that means trading a good player so be it.
BA sure has his hands full this offseason and starts it without an AGM.

Hire an AGM
Hire a HC
Expansion Draft (although AZ should have it easier than most)
Draft without a 1st Rd pick
Replace 4 spots on the blue line
Get the Garland contract done

All while changing the culture, cleaning up the mess the former GM left while dealing with an ownership group that “sure as sh*t” wants to win but has no experience in running a professional sports franchise and early indications that they’re not an easy group to work for.

God speed BA!! F40 is watching your every move!

I'm not interested in a rebuild. This franchise has pissed away too many years trying to figure itself out. I have no patience left to "trust the process" because every time we try that our process ends up being horrendous (Gretzky years), inflexible (Tippett), moronic (IceArizona/Barroway), naive (Chayka), or even illegal (Chayka again).

The Arizona Diamondbacks' lone championship came about because Colangelo opened the team's coffers and built it to win one. The Coyotes' lone prolonged playoff run came about in the same way. That's what I want BA to do - build to win.

Rebuilds are for the young, and that ain't me.

I hear you. Nevertheless a rebuild is in order. We can always root for Colorado as they absolutely boat race the rest of the league.

I literally just fantasized about a team that is annually in the hunt for the presidents trophy. That would mean they're one of the best teams in the NHL. That would require a ton of winning. So your post doesn't make any sense to me, maybe re-read my post and explain what you disagree with. :dunno:

I get wanting to be entertained, but ask any NHLer how much the President's Trophy means. None of them give a flying f--k about it. It's not weird that you want to be entertained given the dull, smoldering, tire fire of an organization that you follow, but preferring to be a consistent President's Trophy contender and not caring about playoff result is weird.

I just care about us building a team that can get in every year. I don't expect us to win a cup in that time either, it's incredibly difficult. Getting eliminated in the first 2-4 years in the first round, NBD. Follow that up with some 2nd round exits, great. Maybe get a 3rd round or finals appearance or 2 in there, on point. That's how you build a winning culture, put fans in seats and create financial stability. What recipe for success has worked the last few years? Copy the shit out of that and start watching the new trend of success. For this to work, you also need to have above average minor league teams and drafting. That's stability and a recipe for success. If you give yourself a chance to make the playoffs every season, you give yourself a chance to win the cup. We haven't done the former so we can't expect the latter.

Is Connor Garland better than Taylor Hall?
That's a damn good question. Since Hall's last injury he has not been the same. It seems he can still skate, but he sure is not dominate on the ice. He has been average during these playoffs. I don't think he will be getting a long term big $ contract.

Would that be the knee injury, that I believe occurred prior to his MVP year?

But would you trade him for Johansen @ $5.6M and Pitlick, or Hill or any other pick? I think Francis would covet which is exempt. Namely prospects that are NHL ready.

No. AZ does not need to be trading young assets for older players right now. Trade the busts like Capobianco and Fischer away sure, mostly just to get some new faces in the system.

But no, I’m not trading anything for current NHL players. Draft and sign free agents until 2024

So you don't want to be competitive next season, but be in perpetual rebuild? That'll be attractive to free agents! The way it looks right now, Seattle will have a better chance at making the playoffs than the Coyotes next season, and they haven't a roster yet.
