He's had injuries the last couple years. Maybe he signs a cheap extension. No hurt is checking.

I just may have thought you were quite the Nashtradamus there until I realized you were referring to the final year of his contract that he still has to play out. I also was quite confused by the declarations above about his value in what I thought to just be the trading of his free agent rights. Thanks for posting that and unintentionally clarifying this all for me. :)

I think we are seeing the start of a new generation of player movement. Young stars sign BIG $ deals and then walk as UFA's to their preferred destination.

Yeah, but it seems like they’re mostly punishing certain teams. Buffalo deservedly for incompetence. Columbus for a mystery reason we can’t figure out. It’s happening a lot, but mostly only two teams. Lol.

Yes but check out the number of young(ish) stars that will be UFA in 3 or 4 seasons from now:

Matthews, McKinnon, Aho, Scheifele, Nylander, Pastrnak, Huberdeau, Larkin, T Wilson...

I’m only pointing out the data that’s available.

I’d love to have Seth Jones in a Kachina.

I’m putting all this out there to figure out what it would take to get him.

No way. Draft, develop and hope for the best until we get a shot at Matthews. Keep the expenses down and grind out each season until Auston comes home. He wants to, we just need to keep the payroll low to make it happen

Has Austin ever said he wants to play here? Don’t get me wrong, would love to happen, but this seems a strange obsession.
