My company just grounded all travel for March and April. Discussing how to handle potential raw materials shortage, overcoming manufacturing issues, etc. It is scary. I'm nervous.

Is there anyone that has anything non-apocalyptic to say in this thread? Some positivity will be welcomed.
Unfortunately I think you're in the wrong thread for that. This is our life now.

What exactly is going on in China now? Is it winding down there, still going strong or do we just not know?

The thing that's scaring me now is people talking about this in terms of months, not weeks.

The rate of new cases is slowing down in China, but there are still a lot there.

I could line a bird cage with my 401k right now. Wheeee.

If you've got the benefit of time the market will rebound long before it's time to cash out. We were due for a recession anyway. But it's a good reminder to convert your investments into less volatile holdings like treasuries when you're closer to the end game.

Honestly, if you've got time you should be thinking about increasing your 401(k) contributions while stock prices are low.

Right but they also had a massive public health responsive and were very aggressive in containing it. What we’re doing in the US is baby steps compared to the measures China took

I think they shutdown until mid-April.

The teams with the most games played in the NHL is 71. I wonder if they tack on a week or two so all teams get to 74 or 75 games to make fair for the teams right outside the playoffs.

And they make those games as regionally close to each other as possible to reduce travel.

Revenue wise the teams would lose 7 games each of ticket sales, depending on how many home games they had left.

Have to think that was player to player.

Can't imagine the NHL not closing it down and reassessing in 2-3 weeks.

I am fairly certain that to the same extent everyone underestimated the virus up until, at least, now -- we will all underestimate how fast it will blow over completely once it has spread completely and a shorter while thereafter. I have no clue if that is 1 month or 4 months or whatever away however. New cases in China for example has slowed down considerably.

No. This thing with naturally regress in summer, media will call it "beaten", only for it to "reappear" in September 2020.

I can't believe that a vaccine is that far away. The impact of this thing is too big. They have several vaccines already but its the testing that takes time. A big part of that time is bureaucracy. Certain countries will toss that bureaucracy out the window... With the money everyone are willing to spend on producing the vaccine once its green-lighted, I am -- without expert knowledge of course -- hopeful that something will be in place after the summer.

Well, Israel has supposedly had it.
