what you imagine and what seems 100% logical isn't evidence of immunity...many people are looking toward herd immunity as the way to get back to normal and they are saying so far there is no evidence of it. i'm not sure how that is disingenuous if thats what their studies show so far then thats what they show. hopefully over time this will be proven untrue and there will be evidence but right now they are saying that people that have recovered shouldn't assume they are in the clear and not take precautions.

if there is science to refute that right now i'm sure it will come out. but 'i don't think that sounds right' doesn't refute the science they have right now

I think what's confusing (and Andrew Cuomo has talked about this) is that they're taking blood plasma that has antibodies from recovered patients and using it to help other sick patients recover. That already has been happening and there must be some kind of benefit going on with that because I've heard it's been a fairly successful treatment. I don't have a medical background though so what the f*** do I know but it is confusing for me---there seemed to be some value to that.

Based on some of the comments I’ve read here, there is not much understanding about what big inflation would do to society.

I don't see people going on shopping sprees or on vacations for a long time. Coming out of this grocery stores are going to do fine and maybe Amazon depending on what happens to the Post Office but retailers are going to take it right in the ass. I also think rent and real estate are going to drop like a stone. You can throw people out on the street but if there are millions of others just like those you throw out your ability to get what you did pre-virus is going to be seriously compromised. Potential replacements are going to be in short supply. I really don't see hyper-inflation coming---too many people won't be able to afford more than the food they eat and some maybe not even that. They're not going to buy superfluous shit. Christmas is going to be tough. So basically that leaves the government to stimulate and stimulate and stimulate.

My answer really to this is there was not much understanding before what a pandemic virus could do to a society and we're finding that out right now.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think I'd be afraid to go out and get a tattoo.

There's an inherent risk of blood-to-blood contact there and as such, they might be the most sterile non-medical business you can go to.

The federal government already found the magic money tree a long time ago.

When does the massive inflation start?

When does it start? I don't know but other than food you can't make people buy anything. Even something as simple as a haircut---probably my wife is going to be helping me with that for a while. As long as some people are getting sick around here I'm not running to the barber shop because even after it reopens (if there's no vaccine yet) anybody could be running in there. Things are going to be broken down by a great many people into what you absolutely need and what you don't. If politicians don't like what they see from our economy---what are they going to do? Stimulate, stimulate, stimulate---that's all they can do. Put another way there are 10 pizza joints in town--3 are going to survive and the joint that raises its prices is not going to be one of them.

Most of the rest of the world is pegged to the dollar so even countries that are not doing so bad with the virus are going to watch and wait.

I was driving around in my Camaro around bear mountain earlier today. A lot of people are out, was a nice day. I live in a suburb, and was a lot of people around. Not sure what to think. I honestly think things need to start opening soon.

I just don't like how definitive the statement would appear to the general public even if it's not their intention especially with how a similar statement about human to human transmission in January blew up in their faces once more became known about the virus with time. Maybe it's me nitpicking but something along the lines of "full immunity is unable to be determined at this time" would have been better. To me at least given all of the information at hand, having the antibodies at this point is only a positive in regards to the virus in the short term. It's just a matter of how much resistance the antibodies will provide to a reinfection and how long these antibodies will provide that resistance that's TBD. Who knows what the long term health effects of contracting this are right now.

While the house is on fire, pointing out the possibility of a 100 year flood, while not factually false, a flood is not our problem now, or in the immediate near-term.

The US economy is enduring a massive recession/deflationary cycle as a result of COVID-19. Any chance of an accelerated recovery is based on timely, aggressive, and effective spending.

I'm not a convert of some of the more extreme views of Modern Monetary Theory, but inflation (save for asset/commodity) has been kept in check for decades. And as currently situated, the US Dollar is the least ugly person at the bar at closing time.

However, when the prolonged recovery is indeed here, sizeable changes are needed on spending, and more importantly, revenue generation side of yearly budgets. But for now, to see the other side of the tunnel, we need every monetary bullet available.

not good news for those hoping to end this asap

https://nypost.com/2020/04/25/no-evidence-recovered-coronavirus-patients-are-immune-who/

of course no evidence doesn't mean its not true there is just no proof with it that would let officials open up purely based on test results.
WHO retracted that tweet later in the day, those dipshits.

>>We expect that most people who are infected with #COVID19 will develop an antibody response that will provide some level of protection.
