Pfizer has come out and stated its vaccine works against SA and UK variants ... AstraZeneca is a dead virus so it works on regular strain but does not on variants but it can probably be reworked to combat da variants ... it is why most people likely won't take da AstraZeneca shot and wait for Pfizer here in GTA where da variants are everywhere already

That’s all well and good, but who’s to say there won’t be new variants after these ones. There’s essentially a new strain of flu every year and most flu shots vary year to year in effectiveness. So If Covid is similar to that, does the government/health officials just keep overreacting to every variant that shows up?

Under 50 y/o might want to consider the J&J...prevents sickness and just one dose.

Or it reverts to less lethal HCoV

Gotta love how you pivot to answer questions that were not ask in order to avoid the question that was asked... are you a Poli Sci major?

The guy you quoted is also quoted as saying Sweden got it right and the rest of the world got it wrong, hmmmm... yeah... just another nut job that is pandering to the anti-masker crowd.

r u? That would explain an eff of a lot. I won't call poli sci majors all nut jobs although a surprising number of them are but there's a good reason why most smart politicians are lawyers and not poli sci majors.

Saw this, thought it was funny.

Here are 12 important questions and answers before considering getting vaccinated:

•”If I get vaccinated can I stop wearing a mask(s)?”
Government: “NO”

•”If I get vaccinated will restaurants, bars, schools, fitness clubs, hair salons ect re-open. And will people be able to get back to work like normal?”
Government: “NO”

•”If I get vaccinated will I be resistant to Covid?”
Government: “No one knows, but probably not”

•”If I get vaccinated at least I won’t be contagious to others - right?”
Government: “NO. The Vaccine doesn’t stop transmission.”

•”If I get vaccinated, how long will the vaccine last?”
Government: “No one knows. All covid ‘vaccines’ are still in the experimental stages.”

•”If I get vaccinated, can I stop social distancing?”
Government: “NO”

•”If my parents, grandparents and myself all get vaccinated - can we hug each other again?”
Government: “NO”

•”So what’s the benefit of getting vaccinated?”
Government: “Hoping that the virus won’t kill you.”

•”Are you sure that the vaccine won’t injure or kill me?”
Government: “NO”

•”If statistically the virus won’t kill me (99.7% survival rate), why should I get vaccinated?”
Government: “To protect others.”

•”So if I get vaccinated, I can protect 100% of the people I come in contact with?”
Government: “NO”

•”So if I experience a severe adverse reaction, long term effects (which are unknown) or die from the vaccine, will I (or my family) be compensated from the vaccine manufacturer or the government?”
Government: “NO - The government and manufacturer have 100% zero liability regarding this experimental drug.”

So to summarize, the Covid-19 vaccine...
Does not provide immunity.
Does not eliminate the virus.
Does not prevent death.
Does not guarantee you won’t get it.
Does not prevent you from passing it on to others.
Does not eliminate the need for travel bans.
Does not eliminate the need for business closures.
Does not eliminate the need for lockdowns.
And does not eliminate the need for masking.

You specifically asked about poor people and public health and they are severely affected by the decision of public health policies and cannot be forgotten.

Then discussion was about DeSantis and how he was favoring rich people in FLORIDA with vaccine distribution and how the poor people in FLORIDA were not being treated fairly and then you pivot to talk about poor countries vs rich countries. Which is vastly different than poor Floridians vs rich Floridians.... Maybe I gave you more credit than you deserved.

LOL, nope not Poli Sci... isn't the term "smart" politician an oxymoron?

I did a quick email poll yesterday with a group of us hockey buds (like 50 guys) , all 50+, and not a single one, living in both US and Canada, was interested in either AstraZeneca or J&J shots ... my gut tells me very few are gonna take them up ... so likely we will see younger Canadians getting vaccinated 1st with AstraZeneca who really don't care one way or da other as there will not be demand ... this is an interesting development which makes some sense

Was AZ the old school vaccine and the Pfizer the gene modified RNA vaccine?

AZ and J&J will allow us to vaccinate 65 and under adults sooner than later. Sure rather have one of the mRNA vaccines but if I can get vaccinated in April rather than July or later, I'm in.

Sounds like 60-64 years olds are going to move to the front of the line for the AZ vaccine.

I'd pass on those as well. I'd also pass if I have to wait 4 months for the 2nd dose. I will get vaccinated but I will wait until I can get it administered as the manufacturer states. So I hope that helps some of the younger folk move up the ladder.

50 + probably should go with Pfizer or Moderna. The J&J is better for them young'uns...prevents severe sickness and fewer side affects.

Data is starting to come in on people who have died and received both doses. It’ll be worth monitoring to see if they considered Covid related deaths? Unlike flu, which is primarily only recorded as a flu death if the person dies in the hospital or care setting, Covid has a very broad definition....in hospital of, in hospital with, outside hospital with, outside hospital recovered.

One can't stand in line obediently behind one's annointed leaders wearing one's double gimp mask AND at the same time acquire some I'm-very-smart cred making snarky remarks about one's leaders.

Or will the 60-64 year olds, think they are too close to 65, and want a different one.

But he’s not favouring rich people. Rich people and poor people alike are allocated doses. CNN is deliberately trying to undermine him because he has R beside his name. They should be using the actual data and showing people that his strategy was more effective than other states.

Rich people are getting it, my friend in Florida is pissed, they are going in gated communities.
Plus DeSantis is accused of hiding real numbers, removed them from web page, and sent cops after health aide who kept posting them.

There's a word for that kind of behaviour but it really escapes me... I believe it starts with an "f" and ends in "cism" ... anyone want to help me out?

In a lot of the larger communities, if you have a properly run recycling program, there is each year, in some places like where I live multiple times a year, amnesty days where you can bring in anything and have it recycled for free. Paint, oil, tires, computers, what ever, free recycling.

Yes, that too. I've never had any problem getting rid of used motor oil and never paid a penny.

Can confirm this is da truth ... my mom and dad went to Naples late last week for 1st of Pfizer shots they got this morning in clinic inside their gated condo community ... now they are over 80 but waited up here a bit to see what da immediate after affects were gonna be ... plus had a cancer treatment to do ... no immediate side affects so far 4 hours post shot ... and next shot booked in 21 days already

Yes, I hear one of their strategies is to take the vaccines to the retirement communities. They have several other options as well. Their plan is to vaccinated those most vulnerable to hospitalization and severe sickness before branching out to other. Don’t quote me, but I’ve heard they are close to opening some of their programs to general population. The J&J is a game changer - Quicker with a lot less administrative work.

There is no data to suggest vaccinating young healthy school teachers first as was suggested by the CDC in Dec and he elected to use his resources to try and prevent hospitalizations.

Lots of states are doing a great job and they are announcing positive news everyday. Hospitals are shutting down Covid units, hospitalizations are at lows not seen since April, NHL teams are opening to fans, colleges are planning on full face to face instruction next semester,
I’m sorry but I’m jacked about the good news.

Ms. Jones was allegedly breaking the law and turned herself in.

Good for them. A little prayer for your dear old parents that they are safe.
