Detroit offers Anthony Mantha, Michael Rasmussen, 2019 2nd, 2020 1st

Subban will never get that type of return. He would fetch something like what Karlsson brought back.

GMs are so cautious about the cap situation and hold so hard onto those future assets.

If you take on 9m of cap hit in one trade — a record by a wide margin — major assets won’t be going the other way. Think the return is much more likely to be a young player or two and a couple of seconds.

I would love to take advantage of Nashville by stealing Subban from them, but there is practically zero chance Poile, who leads probably the best front office in the NHL, is actually considering this.

In reality, this is just some bull****.

I don’t buy that.

Going forward, GMs will probably be more and more aware of contribution/cap hit. You will face situations where you can move one expensive guy for a return or lose 3-4 over-achievers (contribution/cap-hit wise). Nashville is a deep team. They don’t have to worry about who to spend the money on instead.

Trade McDonagh+ ? Or how about Florida?
I'd do that, but I don't think Nashville will. Mac had his best year ever this year though, so I doubt they'll be looking to move him.

Don't think the Panthers are players for Subban. I think they'll target Trouba.

I'd be worried about the back-end of that deal considering his issues. But, given Toronto's needs, they'd be stupid to not inquire if they can get him for a package that doesn't include Matthews, Marner, Tavares (can't even be included because of NMC) or Rielly. Nylander+ is absolutely something that should be on the table.
Because TO needs 4 players taking up over 40m of the cap...

ITT: a couple hfboard posters who think they represent the league. Gtfo

Just because you don't like it doesn't make it false.
It's been a known fact for years that he's well respected across the league.

Depending on what Nashville wants in return I think the Devils should look into it. The idea being building a solid team to make Hall want to re-sign so he’s obviously off the table.

My thoughts are that Subban is a disaster in his own end.

Dramatically bad.

Gallagher is a top class guy??
Lol
I don’t think so.
I’d take Subban on my team any day over Gallagher.
say whaaaat  didnt the nhlpa just vote PK has the most overrated player in the nhl,ne ways i doubt any player in a locker room takes Subban over someone like Gally, dude is deff captain material.Every Habs fan loves Subban but i think hes skating ( biggest asset ) took a major step back from hes days in montreal, not sure if true but i been hearing that hes having problems with hes back, idk if someone with more info can confirm

I'm not a Subban fan but you're wrong. His org is on track. I'm not sure what comes out of his pocket but moot point. 3 of 10 mil raised so far.

That is hardly on track. he pledged $10 M over 7 years in Sept 2015- when there were 7 years left on his contract. He is in 4th of those 7 years (will hit 4 years in Sept 2019. The halfway point is basically Now- march 15th. He needs to be at $5M to be on track. Essentially he raised 3 million in 3.5 years and will have to raise 7 in the next 3.5 years. I am sure every year removed from Montreal makes it harder for him to raise dollars. To meet his commitment he may have come up with $5M personally- not that he does not have the ability to do that.

I would try to move Ellis first personally. One of the biggest mistakes Poile has done was give that guy that contract.

For whatever reason I thought it was 10 in 10 years.

The western conference player that said he has a good shot and that’s it, would fit in well here. I’d stay anonymous too if that’s how I felt.

Reminds me of the NFL player voted top 100 lists. Players can suck at analyzing the game as well, imagine that.
Players, coaches, GM's. They all suck at analyzing the games.

HFboard posters on the other hand, know a thing or 2.

For whatever reason I thought it was 10 in 10 years.

It was tied to the remaining length of his contract which was 7 years at the time. I seemed clear to me when he made the pledge that he was raising a minimum of $10M - he would personally donate to ensure it got to at least $10. I think if he stayed in Mtl he would have raised the 10 easily. I do think he is a man of his word and the Hospital will see their $10M. Really if he raises it by donating his time or his dollars it doesn't bother me one way or the other.

Back to the issue at hand his apparent decline. At the time of the trade I felt he would decline before Weber despite being younger based on the type of game they play. Weber like markov before him is positionaly sound, plays within his abilities. Those guys are better able to adapt to losing a 1/2 step. PK has always been a high risk/ high reward game. his speed allowed him to get back and limit damage from high risk plays. As he loses that speed he will have to adapt. Not sure he can be effective without the high risk/reward play though.

lmaooo this post is really showing how little you know. Gallagher IS a pest, but has ton of heart and is VERY well respected. Who actually likes PK?
