I didn't love the creative choice at the end. I think that pushed him too far over the line to monster and undid a lot of what the series strove for. I understand the decision and in some way it makes sense but it didn't have to be that dark. Just my thought. At least they didn't make him drink kerosene and screw up which Greek myth they were referencing and defraud me with a "Lovecraftian" hype.
I think the series did a great job of making you root for a guy you know is an evil bastard, but at the end of the day he's still an evil bastard that the hero is going to have to take down. But I'm also just kind of over the sympathetic villain thing right now and I'm okay with just a purely evil monster that needs to be taken down. Might have something to do with things that have happened recently.

I get that but it was sort of a why did they go that route moment for me after everything that led up to it. I was invested and then all of a sudden it was like all the emotional effort was for nothing. We will see what they do in the next Batman movie. I guess they won’t give us the Joker until the third movie.

We’ve started watching Shrinking on Apple. Really funny show, Harrison Ford is great playing an old curmudgeonly psychiatrist. And Jason Segel could be funny while reading the phone book.

The TikToks inspired my wife to start watching I Think You Should Leave again. It's a real win-win-win show. It's a win for Netflix because it's quotable and memeable. It's a win for the showrunners because they let their funny flag fly. It's a win for the viewers because it's really funny.

Anyone else got a Steam Deck? It's the last console I'll ever need, unless the Switch 2 wows me enough. I have hundreds of ROMs to play, but I've mostly been playing Doom II wads since I learned how to install them. And by "wads" I mean "just one wad with almost 300 maps."

I had one for a few days. realized how much I'd probably never use it aside from playing in bed before I sleep or going on a trip (doesn't happen often). I mainly game on my desktop PC but the hardware/software in the steam deck is quite impressive I gotta say

Fun fact (well, not really): the rights to Dogma were held by Harvey Weinstein until this year, when Kevin Smith got them back. Certainly, he's had a lot of time to think about what a sequel might look like.

Another fun fact: the Catholic Church unveiled its own Buddy Jesus this year. Tokidoki is an Italian brand based off of Japanese aesthetics and they made a mascot for the Church to appeal to the younger crowd. It's working, apparently.

Dogma was the first Kevin Smith movie I ever saw. While I enjoyed it, it was a bit chaotic. Smith's day has likely come and gone seeing as he's just revisiting the same characters he's had for so long at this point. I'll see a sequel to Dogma but hopefully he takes it someplace new. Where does he go with that story though? He's already had universal extinction as the focus can he do that again without it being derivative?

I don't even know how you make a Dogma 2. The characters played by Damon and Affleck die at the end, that's kinda the entire point. But I'm sure he's toking away trying to come up with ideas.

I saw Tusk with my wife a while back. Gotta say- not too bad! I was expecting some truly cringey stuff but it works.

Tusk was something of a departure for Smith. The ending was odd but at least he did something different. I'll always watch his movies out of loyalty and nostalgia.

Arcane season 2 ... oof, what a disappointment after act 1. Season 1 was THE BEST SHOW I've seen in ages, in any genre, hands down, goated, show or movie. Maybe it gets better with parts 2 and 3 but the way Netflix shows go I'm not hopeful, f*** me.

I'm sort of incapable of judging the show on the plot. I just love the visuals so much that it's still super worth it to me.

I'm all caught up now (parts 1-2) and, while there are some contrived things, I didn't have too much of an issue.

Just binged watched The Bear. What a f***ing show, one of my favorites now.

The Review episode was SPECTACULAR television. May have been shot in one take, incredible acting. And that season 1 finale with his late brother hiding money for him in the cans and the last shot of Mike smiling back at Carmen to Let Down by Radiohead, BEAUTIFUL scene.

The Christmas episode has to be one of the best episodes of tv ever made, my goodness. The tension and acting and with an amazing ensemble of guest stars. Also the episode with Richy finding his passion at the three star restaurant was beautiful.

Season 3 was great acting, but the story was a bit lackluster. But it sets up for a good season 4.

Can’t believe I didn’t know about this show for so long, and I am someone who is passionate about cooking too.

It's been on my list of things to watch but I feel like I generally am in the same opinion of you on shows so that's great to hear.

It's not a bad thing but there's just so much content out there that it's hard to keep up with, especially with watching hockey and soccer as it is.

The visuals are amazing, thats a given.

The majority of fight scenes make no sense, compared to the first season they're all contrived in regards to the power levels of who wins are silly, not believeable at all as far as we know these characters. Jinx should have got wrecked in hand to hand combat with Vi, Sevika should have destroyed Cait hand to hand with no weapons involved.

Sevika is a mess about Silco, her not knowing it was Jinx is ridiculous, especially during the fight with Smeech. One line of dialog with Smeech or Jinx would have changed the whole story. They hate each other, but Jinx makes a battle arm for her, ok lol. The council making decisions without Jayce is dumb, declaring martial law is dumb without anyones approval but somehow Mels mom is making these decisions for everyone, cmon.

Caitlyn going full Hitler out of nowhere is silly, I laughed my ass off at the end of the 3rd episode. The whole Black Rose thing out of nowhere made no sense, I'll give that a pass cause apparently that's a thing within the universe.

My biggest problem is it's way too rushed, trying to cram so much crap into one season. It's going at a break neck pace without any pauses. There used to be meaningful one on one dialog between all these characters. The most egregious is Mel and Jayce, they're both counselors and lovers but they barely talk at all whole the most crazy shit is going down. Now they just cram exposition into a music video at the beginning of each episode.

I watched the first season. I thought it was decent but I'm also a sucker for anything shot in a claustrophobic style. My wife thought it was boring, which I definitely understand. I have no desire to go on past what I watched.

Jeremy Allen White is a throwback of an actor off the set. Apparently, he needs to pass a breathalyzer test in order to see his daughter on visitation days. He'd have fit right in with old Hollywood. I liked him a lot on Shameless and he was good here too.

I can't argue with a single thing you mentioned. I knew they were ending it with this season, given the expense of it, so I sort of expected a lot of rushing. Just the time we live in.

I still think it can ride off everything, characterization-wise, they built in the first season.

The Fishes dinner episode gives me PTSD memories of going to LBI with my wife's family.

Yeah too bad they didn't get another season or two. It was going to be hard to top season one, hopefully they can stick the landing in the last part.
