I didn't love the creative choice at the end. I think that pushed him too far over the line to monster and undid a lot of what the series strove for. I understand the decision and in some way it makes sense but it didn't have to be that dark. Just my thought. At least they didn't make him drink kerosene and screw up which Greek myth they were referencing and defraud me with a "Lovecraftian" hype.
I think the series did a great job of making you root for a guy you know is an evil bastard, but at the end of the day he's still an evil bastard that the hero is going to have to take down. But I'm also just kind of over the sympathetic villain thing right now and I'm okay with just a purely evil monster that needs to be taken down. Might have something to do with things that have happened recently.

I get that but it was sort of a why did they go that route moment for me after everything that led up to it. I was invested and then all of a sudden it was like all the emotional effort was for nothing. We will see what they do in the next Batman movie. I guess they won’t give us the Joker until the third movie.

We’ve started watching Shrinking on Apple. Really funny show, Harrison Ford is great playing an old curmudgeonly psychiatrist. And Jason Segel could be funny while reading the phone book.

The TikToks inspired my wife to start watching I Think You Should Leave again. It's a real win-win-win show. It's a win for Netflix because it's quotable and memeable. It's a win for the showrunners because they let their funny flag fly. It's a win for the viewers because it's really funny.

Anyone else got a Steam Deck? It's the last console I'll ever need, unless the Switch 2 wows me enough. I have hundreds of ROMs to play, but I've mostly been playing Doom II wads since I learned how to install them. And by "wads" I mean "just one wad with almost 300 maps."

I had one for a few days. realized how much I'd probably never use it aside from playing in bed before I sleep or going on a trip (doesn't happen often). I mainly game on my desktop PC but the hardware/software in the steam deck is quite impressive I gotta say

Fun fact (well, not really): the rights to Dogma were held by Harvey Weinstein until this year, when Kevin Smith got them back. Certainly, he's had a lot of time to think about what a sequel might look like.

Another fun fact: the Catholic Church unveiled its own Buddy Jesus this year. Tokidoki is an Italian brand based off of Japanese aesthetics and they made a mascot for the Church to appeal to the younger crowd. It's working, apparently.

Dogma was the first Kevin Smith movie I ever saw. While I enjoyed it, it was a bit chaotic. Smith's day has likely come and gone seeing as he's just revisiting the same characters he's had for so long at this point. I'll see a sequel to Dogma but hopefully he takes it someplace new. Where does he go with that story though? He's already had universal extinction as the focus can he do that again without it being derivative?

I don't even know how you make a Dogma 2. The characters played by Damon and Affleck die at the end, that's kinda the entire point. But I'm sure he's toking away trying to come up with ideas.

I saw Tusk with my wife a while back. Gotta say- not too bad! I was expecting some truly cringey stuff but it works.

Tusk was something of a departure for Smith. The ending was odd but at least he did something different. I'll always watch his movies out of loyalty and nostalgia.
