Seeing it Saturday.Word of mouth for Joker 2 has been absymal and it's looking like it's going to be a huge bomb, anyone actually plan on seeing it? The commericals look so bad. I'm going to wait until I can just watch from home.
Seeing it Saturday.
Half the reviews say its good, the other half hated the musical scenes.
As someone who LOVES Willy Wonka, the musical stuff doesn’t impact me. I am looking forward to seeing it. And you never know. The acolyte got murdered in the ratings and yet I absolutely loved it.
Such a toxic environment we live in where people need to hate on something just because it may not be their cup of tea. I am going into Saturday with an open mind. The trailers look fantastic IMO.
Once Lady Gaga was casted to play Harley Quinn I lost interest in this sequel fast. The first one was great and I honestly wouldn't of complained if they made a sequel. I don't understand how the Joker is still basically in the beginning of his villian stage but Harley pops into the picture so fast. She didn't come around till he was well established in pretty much every thing she has been in. It looks like she isn't even his therapist in this one either. I'm all for making creative changes but I'm not a fan of what they did for this one. Especially it being a musical or whatever.I enjoyed the first one and had even seen them film a bunch of it cause they were filming right near the arena but ticket prices for movies are too expensive for my tastes these days to go into something that has a chance of being bad. If I had Regal unlimited or a list I'd go no matter what.
I saw the trailer a few times and it just looks boring. I don't mind musicals but I'm really not a fan of jukebox musicals and all of the latest commericals on TV that I've seen hides that it's a musical too so I'm sure there's some people going who have absolutely no clue.
The whole premise of the original movie presented a different version of thr Joker. He wasn’t a criminal mastermind or a true villain in training. He’s just a down on his luck sad story mixed with some pent up aggression. I’m not surprised this sequel tried something a bit off the wall given that was probably the only way Joaquin Phoenix would return. The bigger issue to me is if they try to make it a Batman movie without Batman. That’s happened a fair amount in recent years with mixed results but to me it’s distracting at times.Once Lady Gaga was casted to play Harley Quinn I lost interest in this sequel fast. To add to that, Todd Phillips made the Joker because he wanted to make a character piece movie but no studio would give him the financing for it. He realized he could get the funding if he stapled a superhero overlay onto the story he wanted to tell. The whole premise of the original movie presented a different version of thr Joker. Well I’m going to see it but Phillips better not end up owing me $15.Yeah this Joker is a complete separation from the classic Joker tales. Which is why I love it. It’s also a very realistic portrayal. I despise the wild superhero movies so this first Joker was perfect for me.
Saw it last night. I personally loved it. I knew for the last 3 years it was a drama/musical so I was prepared for that.I heard it’s pretty bad. Joaquin Phoenix is supposed to be really good as well as the other actors but they don’t have much to work with and it’s just boring.
Warner Brothers barely made any money on the first one. They didn’t believe in it and had outside investors put up the cash which was 65 mil. Now these dummies sunk 200 mil into this one which will probably bomb lmao. These companies are so dumb.
I’ve seen that it ruins the first movie and the Joker doesn’t do any Jokery stuff at all. He’s basically weak Arthur Flek all over again even though he already transformed into the Joker in the first movie.
Gaga was good but underutilized. I don’t think it’s a real musical musical, I’m not sure how many whole songs the make it through. A lot of it was talk singing if that makes sense lol.
I know a lot of people didn’t like the ending.
On a scale of one should this movie be called the Lighthouse 2?Saw it last night. I personally loved it. I knew for the last 3 years it was a drama/musical so I was prepared for that.
Loved the story and Phoenix was fantastic.

His singing wasn’t anything good, but its not really supposed to be anything good in the context of the story. The musical sequences…Lol I still hate that movie
I saw a comment that Phoenix shouldn't be allowed to sing in the shower lol how was his singing?
I'm glad you enjoyed it and I definitely plan on watching at home but it's crazy what a massive box office bomb it turned out to be, it got something like 37 million over the weekend, somehow lower than Morbius of all things. The word of mouth has been putrid for it. It's just crazy how a sequel to a billion dollar movie is going to fail this hard financially.

are his delusional thoughts
The spoiler context has the answer haha. Just go into it with an open mind and I think you’d enjoy it. Theres a reason for the musical scenes and it works well with the plot IMO.Didn't click the spoiler since I'm going to watch eventually. How was gagas singing? I saw she made comments that they actually told her to sing bad. Again I totally get that there could be a context reasoning for that but then why hire a singer to sing poorly if that's true

Now, I know my taste is different than most. I absolutely love stuff like the Lighthouse. So to each their own. For me, I liked it and am even seeing it again tomorrow with a friend.
I know you are a stickler on prices but cmon now haha. $7.50 ticket Tuesdays for amc stubs members is a bargain. And I show up 15 mins past showtime to skip 75% of the trailers.I just wonder how this movie cost so much to make when it looks like they barely go anywhere.
I'm always pretty open minded about movies, it's just my wallet that isn't. Movies near me even with "discount Tuesdays" are still like $8 a ticket. It's just too much money and I hate all the damn ads and trailers so I save going to the movies for once in a blue moon.
I did see Transformers One which was actually really well done and the trailers for the movie totally hurt it because it looked like a super goofy kiddie movie and it really wasn't like that at all.

As for the budget, the cast probably cost 25% of that. And the film is visually stunning looking, just like the first one.
Ooo yes. Heretic I am excited for.Wouldn't be going by myself so it adds up to be more than that so that's the main reason I'm such a cheap ass on movies lol
We did Regal unlimited for a few months but then the writers strike hit and we decided to cancel it and we got burnt out on seeing any trailers whatsoever.
The amount of time between theater release and home release doesn't help either. It just doesn't feel worth it half the time and I got increasingly annoyed at the other people experience part of it too, people with phones out, people talking, people coughing up their lungs. Just burnt out on the entire experience so it has to be a can't miss movie for me to see in the movies now.
Heretic and Gladiator 2 are my only must see in the theater for the rest of the year.
