I wouldn't quit the team but I'd be furious if they did this.

NHL caliber defensemen are much harder to find compared to NHL caliber scorers and as Gee Wally likes to say championship teams are built from the net out. Trading Carlo for a scorer would only re-open that gaping hole in the defense that he has filled so well this season. There's no guarantee that Landeskog would regain his scoring touch by coming here, either.

Stupid move if the Bruins do this.

One thing I worry about IF a Carlo move were to happen is this. In the case it`s for a Landeskog, the immediate affect his absence would have on Z is too worrisome for this fan to imagine

Most saying Z has been a huge bonus for Carlo, absolutely, no argument there however I am one who thinks Z having a partner who is actually an NHL player has been huge for his game too and his absence would leave a massive hole and I think were right back to seeing the Chara we saw last year if Carlo were to be moved

I'll always be a B's fan. But with the set of moves they've made the past 5 years, upped ticket prices, I can be sure to say, this team (as currently constructed) isn't a team I'm spending a lot of money to see. Moving a defenseman (yet again), while we are constantly short top 4 defensemen, is beyond maddening.

I say no.

I have no desire to see Carlo go before he grows with us. The trade hardly makes us a threat in the east. Additionally, I would have to watch more Liles and Morrow. Certainly takes away from the additional goal scoring benefit to have more go in the net.

Trade Carlo and either McQuaid or Kevan Miller move up to the top pair......for a week or two until they get hurt.

I can't even imagine what the right side of the D would look like at that point.

Agreed. Although I'd hold my judgement until the end of the season.

Why do we have 3 threads talking about this if Boston said they're not doing the trade? Did I miss something?

Don't like the poll options.

It will be very damaging, but most of us are fans forever, regardless.

I don't think the current management engages in sufficient strategic planning. Trading Carlo would not be smart in the long run.

Usually the team getting the better player wins. Landeskog is the better player with the higher potential make no mistake. However, the Bruins defence is so bad we can't afford to let Carlo go.

But that variable is only important given a certain timeline. I'd look at it like this...

Losing Carlo and not replacing him on the defense means a weak defense probably for this and next year, at least. However, even with Carlo, it's a mediocre defense at best. If you knew that Landeskog would be the better player over his career and that you had more impactful, talented d-men in your pipeline than Carlo, AND that even if you had Carlo and Landeskog right now this team isn't winning anything in the next 1-2 years (which I contend is almost certain) would you still turn down that deal?

IMO you make any deal that you are confident you 'win' so long as you aren't jeopardizing a real window to win the Cup. And the Bruins aren't in that window this year, nor will they be next year. So I argue you make every talent swap that benefits you almost regardless of position.

If management decides this is the right move for the team I have no problem getting behind it. Our D is not the mess people make it out to be, we've been at the top of the NHL in corsi all season and it isn't just because of Carlo. Krug is a monster this year, Chara's play has returned, McQuaid and Killer are nowhere close to the disaster on skates they are made out to be and Chiller has turned a corner in his development. Beyond that we have one of the strongest group of young D in the NHL, Krug and Chiller in the NHL with McAvoy, Zboril, Lauzon, Lindgren among others waiting in the wings. I would rather trade someone not on the NHL roster or one of the other RH d but the world wouldn't end if Carlo left. Heck Landeskog might go on a tear getting out of that dumpster fire and actually ignite this offense.

Out of curiosity what does our D need to do for people to think we have a decent defense?

You mean aside from Chara's yearly breakdown in March?

Would you have sent Hamilton?

Hamilton sent himself and Sweeney and Co blinked/caved.

Sweeney should hold firm and not include Carlo.

Look at what WPG has done so far with regards to Trouba. Good young dmen are just too hard to find. Carlo seems to have a team first attitude, plays a strong game for a youngster, and should have a good cap number for the next 4-5 years.

Avs price is too rich for the soon to be retooling Bruins.

Have out of town trolls invaded this poll, or how are 40% of fans considering quitting a team over trading away a(n albeit promising) rookie d-man? Bandwagon city?

Or is it just a case of there being too few poll options? I guess that's more likely.
