It's okay

McDavid won't win shit there if they dare give Skinner a modest raise.

And this is coming from probably one of the more optimistic people on this website when it comes to the Oilers cup chances and window. They'll destroy it paying Skinner more than they're paying him now.

I was also once a Skinner apologist and one of the last to turn against him. After last playoffs and the start to this season I am a Skinner atheist.
I thought he was pretty good against Dallas and Florida in the playoffs last year.

Only after he sucked the first couple of rounds (particularly Vancouver) and almost sent them packing early.

I didn’t think he was good at all against Florida. Only after they were looking like they were gonna be swept by Florida and lasted 7.

They need to either go big with a goalie in the future or go cheap. Skinner isn’t good enough and Skinner won’t be cheap (enough) sfter this contract.

LOL I'm sure Zach Werenski, who was engaged with an Oiler along the boards, turned, saw the puck, saw specifically it was Connor McDavid in pursuit and decided he could make a name for himself.

The problem is Werenski didn't see the puck at all- he only saw McDavid and decided to attack his legs and make a dirty non-hockey play.

If the league wants to build its marketing around a mid defenseman in a terrible market over the best offensive force the league has seen since Lemieux/Gretzky, I guess that's it's prerogative, but then I never want to hear bitching about the cap being flat or ratings being down. What a joke.

If it is precautionary then McDavid is no different than the NBA players who claim "load management", which is far from the norm for hockey players and culture.
Generally people know instantly if they've hurt themselves pretty bad,
he didn't go straight to the bench/down the tunnel, he got up fine then skated 20 more seconds to finish with a normal line change at 40 seconds

Perhaps EDMgmt are simply protecting their MVAsset, perhaps his adrenaline prevented him from noticing something substantial that worsened over time, it's entirely unclear at the moment

With all the league marketing on Werenski and not McDavid, I can see why you'd have this concern. It's like Zach's face is on every piece of NHL branded gear and on every screen possible. McDavid is nowhere to be found. It's like he's an afterthought. When will someone give McDavid any sort of public notoriety? Certainly not now.

It’s already how it is.

I remember when Steckel gave Crosby the accidentally on purpose.

Still a hall of famer but he was never the same since.

Amazing sport. Terrible league.

I'm honestly interested in how you can actually see the play that way. I'm watching the slow motion one, the puck is there, he's clearly tie up and reaching out for the puck....not sure if he'd able to get it it or not as McDavid tips it away before his stick could full extend and then it catches McDavid's foot and trips him. This is the type of play that happens multiple times a game, there is no way I can see how someone looks at the video and says "dirty non-hockey play".

Should have been a penalty, but that's not the point. You can watch any game and come up with many things that should have been penalties that go uncalled

McDavid's been playing hurt for like 18 months. Dam is going to break eventually.

Yeah but....

What if McDavid don't want to do all that marketing crap?

It takes two, you know....

Hahaha come on. With this absolutely absurd logic and bias any argument you make is completely invalid.

Attack his legs. Come back to this planet bud.

Steckel on Crosby in the outdoor game was definitely an accidently on purpose collision. It sucks that Sid missed the better part of a year of his prime because of that hit and the head shot the next game.

Don't know if I'd say he 'never the same since' though...

Obviously a trip, but I didn't catch it in real time. I had to see the zoomed in, slowed down version to see it. With that I give the refs a pass on missing it.
I am curious what the injury is as that kind of trip happens every game without incident.

It must be.

How cold Warenski even see McDavid coming from the left and behind him? His head was clearly looking straight at the puck, and he was lunging for it. He starts the lunging motion before McDavid is all that close to him.

This may be the greatest Canadian victimhood post like, ever!
The NHL dubiously awards Edmonton four 1st overall picks in a span of like 7 years. The Taylor Hall pick was a desired one and the last one they get is the game's most talented player since Gretzky and Mario. An even more desired pick then when Crosby was going 1st overall. It's the best 1st overall pick to have one in the lottery since the 1980s.

And some Oiler fans are like: We're victims and the NHL hates us. They hate Canada.

Sure pal...

That's probably a person that shouldn't be watching the NHL or pro sports in general. Should find other hobbies that won't trigger him at the site of something remotely unpleasant.

McDavid gets a tripped. Should have been a routine 2 minute minor for tripping. A common play you see every night in the NHL more than once. There was nothing about that play that was dirty, severe or intentional. That was a common play in hockey.

It was a moderately sloppy play with the stick by Wereski and since McDavid has a bit of a rep as a diver, he didn't get the call. On a play that looked borderline between 2 minutes for tripping and let it go and keep playing.
