That probably isn’t a serious injury and he’s out day to day. I suspect it’s his left foot. He’s probably playing again sometime next week.

I bet at worst he misses the Nashville game on Thursday.

Looks pretty innocent, no obvious twisting, hyperextending or other obvious bad result

Gets up and skates fine and finishes his shift

Seems more precautionary than emergency
We shall see

McDavid surely wants a Cup, and if winning it means sitting out a season to have additional 12.5M in the roster space for the playoffs, he'll do it. Won't call it an asterisk cup too.

McDavid has more class and respect for the game than Kucherov or Stone.

I don't think he'd do it.

Also, Edmonton barely has any assets to use the 12.5 million.

Pretty ugly. Obvious left leg injury. Ankle or knee

Likely out a while
Pretty ugly? Looks like nothing at all....but because he left that game, based on replays, you have to assume ankle or something like that.

Not sure how you leap to "likely out a while" - you have absolutely no idea. He may very well be out for a while, but I'd never guess that based on the video. I think the coach mentioned something like hopefully only 1 or 2 games....he doesn't have any idea either, but would have more information than you. It's entirely possible they fear the worst but weren't saying anything until the evaluation gets completed (I know he returned to Edm for evaluation).

The only real clue is that his knee with full body weight is heading towards the ice while his foot gets caught and preventing the lower leg from twisting with the rest of his body weight. Could be ankle, could be knee....heck it could even be a hip or quad injury.

Because they can't stand McDavid is in Edmonton, same as Bettman/the American owners. If they want to build their sport on markets who don't care when they don't have a winner, that's fine, but then the Canadian teams should be told the truth. This league wouldn't exist without them and it would be hilarious to watch them try.
This may be the greatest Canadian victimhood post like, ever!

I have no idea whatsoever how long he'll be out, but if someone forced me to guess I'd suggest it likely isn't serious simply because he was able to get up pretty easily with no apparent pain. I'd just guess something didn't quite feel right so didn't want to risk anything, left the game, going to get evaluation and we'll see what happens.

I agree. Just his last knee thing came was kind of fluky and his knee was garbage. And for someone that relies on his legs to be dominant, any reoccurrence will hamper Edmonton's ability to contend. Could make his contract an interesting issue if his decline happens earlier because of injury rather than age.

If it is precautionary then McDavid is no different than the NBA players who claim "load management", which is far from the norm for hockey players and culture.

This is one of the dangers when a team relies so heavily on one player for their success.

They absolutely cannot afford to lose mcdavid long term.

I don't think he's ever had any knee problems has he? The collar bone injury in his rookie year was bad and looked bad, other than that, he hasn't had any serious injuries. He had the quad injury a few years ago, but only missed 5 or 6 games.

Not sure why everyone has problems seeing the trip, it's the Blue Jacket by the bench who just stands there and reaches out his stick to hook McDavid's skate.
LOL I'm sure Zach Werenski, who was engaged with an Oiler along the boards, turned, saw the puck, saw specifically it was Connor McDavid in pursuit and decided he could make a name for himself.

Yeah...he trashed his knee a few years ago and chose rehab over surgery.

Oh yes, remember now.....one of those ones you lose sight of when it happens end of year, no playoffs, so 5+ months off-season and you forget about it. Some overly dramatic writing in the article for dramatic effect though.
