I watched the Seattle vs Edmonton game last night and Connor played a great all around game. He was active defensively, passed well, creating scoring chances, getting loose pucks, took face offs and shooting the puck well. Above all despite his scoring slump Connor's ability to maintain puck possession and gain zone entry consistently is always there.

It's a matter of time before he goes on a scoring binge.

He might be the least usable high scoring player since Dionne and Kessel.

You always come into McDavid threads, throw a silly one liner and then refuse to engage at all.

Can you elaborate what you said? How does McDavid consistently through a large sample have the best impact on his teams goal differential among all NHL players if he's useless?

Might it be just that you're the most useless poster of all time?

"least usable high scoring player" though.

ALso, nice assist on the Nurse goal.

It's no knock on McDavid. He'll be in that 2nd tier of greatest of all-time players alongside guys like Crosby, Jagr, or Ovechkin. The Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux, and Howe club might not get a new member for a long time still.

McDavid has done nothing to be in the tier you’re mentioning. He hasn’t even beaten Kucherov for most points in a season.

McDavid is firmly right behind the Yzerman, Sakic, and Messier tier of centerman.

Crosby and Ovechkin never beat Thornton for most points in a season. Guess they need to move down a tier too. Or maybe focusing on a single season total is pretty dumb

Yzerman never won any Art Ross or Hart, Sakic only has 1 Hart, Messier has 2 Hart no Art Ross.

McDavid has 2 Hart, 3 Art ross at the age of 24 years old. What he is doing is special.

He isn't behind those player.

with game missed today McDavid is on 130 points pace, never mind Great One, is he going to match Great Kuch 128 points?

I have said this is the realistic question all season, which could of course still get cancled(imagine if it got cancled some time ago, people would pro-rate McDrais insane paces for decades), will he? Odds are against him.

That happened last season with his insane 56-game pace, which was crazily impressive for sure but he probably would have regressed a bit over 82 games.

There isn’t anyone comparable to Mario or Wayne playing currently, you know the guys that kept winning those trophies. Gretzky and Lemieux routinely destroyed their teammates and often times the #2 leading points scorer by insane amounts. McDavid’s biggest separation has been 14 points.

In 1993-94 Gretzky outscored his next closest teammate by 44 point s, finishing the season with 130 points at 34 years old. This is totally excluding the many seasons in the 80s where he scored over 200 points.

In the 88-89 season Lemieux outscored his closest teammate by 84 points.

In that same season Yzerman had his best offensive season ever by scoring 155 points, the most ever by a player not named Lemieux or Gretzky. Lemieux still beat him by 44 points.

1990-91, Joe Sakic outscores his next closest teammate by 50 points. Finishes the season with 109 points on a horrible Nordiques team. Gretzky won the Art Ross that season with 54 more points than Sakic in two fewer games.

McDavid is not nearly as dominate as some of you believe. But the best example is clearly Kucherov beating McDavid by 12 points in 2018-19. Kucherov beat his next closest teammate by 30 points while Draisaitl was only behind by 11.

I don't think he is as dominant has Gretzky or Mario, but to say that he " has done nothing to be in the tier " of Jagr, Ovechkin or Crosby and his behind Sakic, Yzerman and Messier is foolish. He definitely has the individual hardware to prove he belongs in the second tier of great.

McDavid will get his respect when he actually does something worth while, like win a Conn Smythe. Until then, what lower level tier he belongs in is inconsequential.

He certainly hasn’t dominated the competition or his teammates in the same way Yzerman or Jagr did.

1999-00 Jagr plays 63 games and wins an Art Ross by scoring 96 points. He outscored his closest teammate by 30 points.

McDavid has done nothing to indicate that his top end offensive game is in the same territory of Jagr, let alone prime Yzerman before he figured out he needed to play defense.

McDavid played 56 games last season and had 105 points and wins an Art Ross, outscores his closest teammate by 21 points.

There is this little thing called "playoffs." There is another little thing called "leadership." Then there's yet another little thing called "two-way play." McDavid is so far behind those three in all three aspects, it's not even funny.

There is more to hockey than offensive stats.

Draisaitl was #2 in scoring that year. Not comparable to what I am discussing. Yzerman and Jagr played on horrible teams and won the Art Ross. McDavid plays on a line with an Art Ross winner.
